Good news for Liam Neeson
Taken 2 was released this past Friday, and debuted with a weekend gross of $50 million. The film, starring Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, and Famke Janssen, also grossed $55 million overseas.
The family film Hotel Transylvania continues to do well, moving down to 2nd place but grossing another $27 million. Pitch Perfect took third place after expanding its release, and grossed $14 million. Disney’s Frankenweenie disappointed the studio by opening at #5, behind Looper, and making only $11.5 million domestically.
