The nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards were announced Monday, and to nobody’s surprise, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift and The Weeknd led the pack with the most nods. Lamar pulled in the most nominations, 11, while Swift and The Weeknd received seven nods each.

Ed Sheeran took to Twitter to share his excitement about his nominations. Even though he says he wasn’t expecting any nominations, no one’s jaw dropped over his hit “Thinking Out Loud” receiving three nominations. The song, which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 (and remained there for eight weeks straight),  earned nominations for Record of The Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance. Sheeran also received a nomination as a songwriter for The Weeknd’s “Beauty Behind the Madness” for Album of the Year.

  Another Brit to earn three nods is James Bay. The rocker will be going up against his tour mate from earlier this year, Elle King, for Best Rock Song. After his breakout year, Bay is also up for the coveted Best New Artist and Best Rock Album for his debut album, “Chaos and the Calm.”

While many of the artists that make up the nominees for the big categories are obvious Top 40 contenders, the Grammy Awards still left room for some misses. Although Drake wasn’t shut out completely (earning nods for his songs “Energy” and “Back to Back” as well as his album “If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late”), his song “Hotline Bling,” one of the most ubiquitous songs of the moment, was left out, despite being released before the cut off date. Last year, the Grammy’s asked Rihanna, Kanye West, and Paul McCartney to perform their collaboration “FourFiveSeconds,” but perhaps forgot about the track, seeing as it received no love from the committee.

The award show honors music released October 1 through September 30, which is why 1989 may feel a little dated and why Adele is noticeably absent. This at least will give Bieliebers and Directioners another year to hope for nominations.

The nominations for the 2016 People’s Choice Awards were announced Tuesday, November 3rd. The 65 categories range from film and television to music, social media and activism.

First time nominee The Weeknd leads with five nominations, including “Favorite Male Artist” and “Favorite Album” for Beauty Behind the Madness. No surprise there with the success The Weeknd has had this year. Beauty Behind the Madness debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 at the end of August 2015. Taylor Swift follows just slightly behind with four nominations.

Shonda Rhimes’ also had an impressive slate with all three of her shows- Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away With Murder– getting nominations. Grey’s Anatomy even takes the title for the most nominated show with six noms including “Favorite TV Show.”

In the movie categories, Avengers: Age of Ultron dominates with seven nominations. The film is nominated for “Favorite Movie” along with Furious 7, Inside Out, Jurassic World, and Pitch Perfect 2.

Fans can cast their votes until December 3. The 2016 People’s Choice Awards will air live on January 6, 2016 on CBS with host Jane Lynch.

There’s been a big void in our hearts, yearning for sappy love songs by a British lady with a large voice, and after a four year hiatus, Adele just came back to fill it. Though you may not have realized you needed a good cry this week, Adele’s recording breaking music video debut for her latest single “Hello,” proves we were missing all the feels.

Adele’s first music video in four years smashed records at Vevo.com, garnering more than 27 million views in the first 24 hours of its release.

Vevo representatives said on Monday that the video, which debuted exclusively on its site on Friday, beat the previous record holder, Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video by more than seven million views. Swift’s video was seen 20 million times in the first 24 hours after its release in May.

And dethroning Taylor Swift from her position wasn’t the video’s only achievement. “Hello” is also the first music video to be partially shot using IMAX cameras. Director Xavier Dolan talked about how he used the cameras in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“The shots on IMAX are two shots: mostly the finale on that pond, and there’s the shot of her opening her eyes. I love an introduction like that,” Dolan said. “It just seemed nice: she had been gone for three or four years. So she’s settling in and taking all of those curtains and sheets off, ripping them down from the walls. It’s like Adele coming back home.”

“Hello” went viral within hours of its release and as of today has been viewed more than 73 million times. It is the first single from Adele’s upcoming November album, “25,“ the first since “21” won six Grammy awards and sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. We were talking about internet sensations though, and the video still has a ways to go if Adele wants to unseat Swift’s other big Vevo record. “Blank Space” was recently named the all-time most-viewed video on Vevo, with 1.2 billion views and counting. It remains to be seen whether “Hello” will make it to the next Vevo milestone, but as a whole the song is doing extremely well.

While figures for early downloads of the heartfelt ballad probably won’t be available until next week, music website Billboard.com said digital sales could also break records.

Billboard reported that some music industry sources estimated that “Hello” sold about 450,000 in its first two days on sale, and could top the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts next week.

One Direction has cancelled their first show in five years! The announcement confused fans everywhere, especially since the group seemed to act like it was business as usual, releasing a new music video just hours after the cancellation.

The strange series of events started earlier today, when their publicist took to Twitter to announce that the boys would not be performing in Belfast, Northern Ireland, because Liam Payne had suddenly taken ill.

The statement read, “fans have been asked to hold on to their tickets and there will be a further statement tomorrow. The band apologize to their fans and wish Liam well as soon as possible.”

Harry wrote, “Deepest apologies to everyone at the show tonight in Belfast. Very disappointed, but unfortunately these things happen. We’re very sorry. H”

But, considering that the band has never cancelled due to illness (or injury), fans quickly started showing their concern on social media:

Then, just hours after the announcement came the release of the music video release of the band’s latest single, “Perfect.”  For some fans, it was a small, but nice, distraction from the cancellation drama.  However, the song, believed to be about Harry’s famous ex, Taylor Swift, has some controversy of its own. The lyrics, (“And if you like cameras flashing every time we go out / And if you’re looking for someone to write your breakup songs about / Baby, I’m perfect / Baby, we’re perfect”) as well as the melody seem to be a direct response to Taylor’s hit song, “Style.” (SO SUBTLE YOU TWO LOVEBIRDS).

The video, filmed in NYC’s InterContinental Hotel, is seemingly free of any Taylor references, with the four guys just “causing trouble in hotel rooms.” But towards the end, Harry seems to travel to an ethereal, very familiar wall. We’re not saying the scene was ripped directly from Swift’s video… But we kind of are.

Joe Jonas and Charlie Puth made an appearance on “Good Morning America” to announce this years American Music Awards nominations.

After the year Taylor Swift has had since her release of “1989,” it’s no surprise that she lead the pack with 6 nominations, including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year. Ed Sheeran and The Weeknd follow with 5 nominations each. Both will rival Swift for Artist and Song of the Year.

American Music Awards nominations are determined by album and digital sales, radio, streaming, social activity and touring data tracked by Billboard, Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound. But, winners are decided by the fans. Fans can vote on the AMA website, as well as by mentioning the artist of choice with a hashtag of the category (and #AMAs) on Facebook and Twitter.

The American Music Awards, hosted by Jennifer Lopez, will air live on Sunday, November 22nd at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

At the beginning of August, Ryan Adams announced he would be recording a cover album of Taylor Swift’s 2014 hit record, “1989.” (You may have heard of some songs on it: Shake It Off, Blank Space, Bad Blood). Today, he tweeted the digital release date for the album: September 21!

After the initial announcement of the album, Taylor Swift responded as many of us did, with some freaking out:

Ryan was gracious with studio updates on Instagram, posting tons of videos featuring audio from the album. To nobody’s surprise, Ryan’s versions strayed from the originals, his Americana twang vibe in full swing.

And because Taylor Swift is just as excited as we are, she started a countdown until the release on Monday.

Does this mean Taylor Swift’s music will be back on Spotify via Ryan Adams?

After last year’s fairly dull show, MTV’s 32nd Video Music Awards was all about upping the ante –and that they did. For the most part, the show was basically about showcasing Miley Cyrus’ crazy antics (and costumes), however, there was no shortage of memorable moments, from Kanye’s 13-minute acceptance speech to Taylor Swift squashing beefs to the emergence of new beefs. Here are the most memorable moments from a night full of surprises.

The MTV Video Music Awards are known for not only some crazy on-stage moments, but for the outrageous fashion on the red carpet. Celebrities forgo any and all fashion rules to make statements or to simply grab some headlines. Miley Cyrus turned heads in a silver barely there number, while Nick Jonas made us sweat (not in a good way) while draped in head to toe leather. Still, some stars managed to turn heads for their impressive style.

Rosemary’s Pick: Kourtney Kardashian. With all the outrageous outfits on the red carpet, it was no easy feat to stand out in a simple bright coral jumpsuit, but Kourtney managed to pull it off. Kourtney paired the outfit with gold jewels, heels and a matching clutch. The eldest of the Kardashian sisters wore her dark hair straight and sleek giving her a sexy sophisticated look. No doubt about it, Kourtney dropped jaws as she stepped out in the Balmain number. (Also, thank you for giving short girls everywhere hope for rocking a jumpsuit!)

Frances’ Pick: Nicki Minaj. Nicki is known for her crazy red carpet outfits, especially for award shows like the VMA’s, but she kept things a little more low key in a metallic gold sheer dress by Labourjoisie. Don’t get me wrong, she was showing a lot of skin, but the pearl accents and perfectly placed cutouts made the outfit look more sophisticated versus flashy. Her perfectly contoured face makeup, winged eyeliner and blunt bangs hairstyle gave her a gorgeous natural makeup look that completed the ensemble.

Shortly after Miley Cyrus announced she would be hosting the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, nominations were revealed.

Leading the pack of nominees is Taylor Swift, with nine noms to her name. Taylor can credit “Bad Blood” for seven nominations (Video of the Year among those), and two for “Blank Space” (Best Female Video and Best Pop Video). Going up against Taylor for Video of the Year is her pal Ed Sheeran for “Thinking Out Loud,” which earned him another 3 nominations. His video for “Don’t” gave him another 2, for a total of 6 nominations for the Brit. Fellow British songwriter James Bay is nominated for “Artist to Watch.” But Ed Sheeran’s pals in One Direction were noticeably snubbed again this year, despite having videos for “Steal My Girl” and “Night Changes.”

While Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” received nominations for Best Female Video and Best Hip Hop Video, Nicki was snubbed in the Video of the Year category. Additionally, “Feeling Myself,” her video with Beyonce received zero love. Nicki let out her frustration in a series of tweets:

While no names were named, it seemed as though Nicki Minaj might have been referencing Taylor Swift, and perhaps would even pull a Kanye if she won?

Taylor Swift surprisingly didn’t stay quiet on the matter, but Nicki insisted it had nothing to do with Taylor personally.

Drama already and the VMA’s don’t even take place until August 30, 2015.
