Euphoria’s Hunter Schafer Named Shiseido’s Newest Global Brand Ambassador

Since the premiere of the HBO hit Euphoria Hunter Schafer’s star has been on the rise with her debut role. Actress, model and LGBTQ activist, Hunter Schafer is a multifaceted talented individual who is not only making quite the name for herself, but is using her platform to inspire, ignite change, and transcend boundaries by celebrating individuality on and off the screen and runway.

Despite the global pandemic putting a temporary freeze on things Schafer has not let that slow her down. She has added the exciting new role of being the Global Brand Ambassador for Japanese powerhouse beauty brand, Shiseido to her resume. Shiseido believes that beauty comes alive when inner and outer beauty are in dynamic harmony, which is why this partnership with Schafer was a perfect pairing.

“When I look at Shiseido, I see a level of artistic energy that is really unique. As someone who likes to be artistic with makeup, that was something that instantly attracted me to the brand. Shiseido is about more than trying to look pretty or appeal to a specific standard of beauty. Shiseido is parallel to art,” said Schafer

“We are so thrilled to collaborate with someone as creative, expressive, and authentic as Hunter,” says James Boehmer, Global Artistic Director for Shiseido Makeup. “She really represents the current zeitgeist of beauty in that there are no rules, no boundaries, and no restrictions.”

As Shiseido’s newest Global Brand Ambassador, she will make her first appearance in her first brand campaign beginning in 2021.

“Similar to Shiseido, Hunter is both modern and timeless,” says Boehmer. “She continues to write her own narrative, which is what we encourage people to do with makeup.” With her luminous complexion and incandescent spirit, Schafer epitomizes light that lifts from within.

‘Girls’ Season 6 Will Be Its Last

The rumors are true, Lena Dunham has confirmed that the sixth season of “Girls” will be its last.

HBO formally announced the news that the show has been renewed for a sixth and final season during the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour on Thursday. Fans were already prepared for the news, as the news was leaked to E! News earlier this week and Dunham herself had previously alluded to the possibility that the Emmy-winning show may end in previous interviews.

In a radio interview with Elvis Duran in September, Dunham stated, “I started working on this show when I was 23, and now I’m going to be 30 so it kind of feels right that this show kind of sandwiched my 20s and then I go off into the world.”

In a statement to EW, Dunham further explained her desire not to drag the show out through too many seasons. “It’s always been important to us that we know and understand when it’s time to wrap it up. It is about a very specific time in life and we don’t want to push past that or overextend it. We’re going to feel it out.”

In the official press release announcing the series’ end, HBO president Michael Lombardo, praised Dunham and the show creators on the work they’ve done over the last few years, saying they gave HBO a “signature series of rare wit and intelligence. They are exceptional talents, and I can’t wait to see what Lena, Jenni and Judd have in store for the final seasons of this unique show, and look forward to working with them on future projects.”

Distraught fans should take heart in knowing that though the show’s end is in sight, the final season will not premiere until 2017. In the meantime, season 5 premieres on HBO February 21^stso there are still two full seasons of “Girls” on the horizon.

‘Carol’ And Netflix Earn Big Golden Globe Nominations

The Hollywood Foreign Press announced the nominations for the 73th Annual Golden Globes on Thursday morning.

Todd Haynes’ period piece “Carol” (based on the book “The Price of Salt” by Patricia Highsmith), received the most film nominations, with a total of five. The film will go up against “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “The Revenant,” “Room,” and “Spotlight” for Best Motion Picture Drama. “Carol” also received a nod for Best Original Score and Best Director. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, who star in the film, will go head to head in the Best Performance By an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama category.

But that won’t be the only interesting competition during the award show. Christian Bale and Steve Carell both earned acting nominations in a musical or comedy for their work in “The Big Short.” Although Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer didn’t star in a film together, the two new best friends will face off in the Best Performance By an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy category for their work in “Joy” and “Trainwreck,” respectively. We can’t wait to hear some serious smack talk (Or most likely comedic adoration) between these ladies.

On the television front, it seems that streaming services are taking over. Netflix proved to be a force to be reckoned with at the Golden Globes back in 2013 with “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black.” This year, Netflix had more nominations than any network with 8, beating HBO by one nod. But Netflix isn’t the only streaming service that appears. In the category for Best Series, Music or Comedy, Netflix’s “OITNB” will go up against Hulu’s “Casual” and Amazon’s “Transparent” and “Mozart in the Jungle.” The only two nominees from a tradition network are both HBO’s, “Silicon Valley” and “Veep.” It looks as though the “Modern Family” sweep from years past is finally over.

The Golden Globes will be hosted by Ricky Gervais on January 10 on NBC. Check out the full list of nominations below.

HBO’s first trailer for “True Detective” released

HBO released the first trailer for it’s new original show, “True Detective,” tonight before the season premiere of “Boardwalk Empire.” The show, starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, centers around detectives Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson), and their 17 year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. Written by Nic Pizzolatto and directed by Cary Fukunaga, the show takes a split narrative, jumping from 1995 when the murder took place, and to 2012 when the case is reopened. If the series is picked up for a second season, the story and characters will change, in the same format as “American Horror Story.”
