Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s <del>Superman</del> Supergirl –the kickass lead female superhero we’ve been waiting for!

Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, producers of hit comic shows “Arrow and The Flash,” are at it again. The duo have teamed up with Allison Adler (Chuck, Family Guy) to create a comic book show centered on the 24-year-old cousin of Kal-El (Superman, in case you forgot), Kara Zor-El (AKA Kara Danvers, or Supergirl). The heroine is played by Melissa Benoist, who played Marley Rose on “Glee” and appeared in the critically-acclaimed film “Whiplash.”

In the DC Comics universe, 12-year-old Kara Zor-El escaped Krypton with the help of her parents at the same time as Kal-El. Like Kal-El, Kara was found and raised by a couple who eventually adopt her, the Danvers. She lived in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex, and concealed her otherworldly powers for the safety of herself and her family.

Twelve years later, Kara, now 24, comes out of the superhero closet (with tights and a skirt, of course) when she’s enlisted by the head of a secret government agency to help protect the citizens of her home, National City, against sinister threats. What threats, exactly? We’ll find out when “Supergirl premieres Monday, October 26 at 8:30 PM on CBS. The series will then move to its regular Monday 8 PM slot the following week, November 2.

Earlier this month at the Television Critics Association, CW President Mark Pedowitz expressed his regrets on passing on the opportunity to host “Supergirl.”

When asked about a potential crossover between “Arrow,” “Flash,” and “Supergirl,” Pedowitz said, “I leave that up to Greg Berlanti if they can make it work… I’m open to crossovers.”

While CBS chairman Nina Tassler was against it, it’s really the power of the nerds to get that win. If a crossover does happen, we hope that CBS will let “Supergirl” characters develop and establish a name for themselves among all of the comic book shows.

We’re excited to see a previously forgotten female superhero shine in a new TV series, but we are mostly relieved to see that she isn’t sexed up (Anyone remember Marvel Comics’ erotic Super-Woman?).

Miley Cyrus’ antics have been working, as can be seen by the former Disney star’s position on the US Album’s Chart. Miley’s first RCA release came in at number one, selling 270,000 units in the first week ending October 13th. The album, “Bangerz” is her 6th number one album, but her first three were under the Hannah Montana name.

“Bangerz” is the 7th new album on the US top ten. Panic at the Disco came in at number two with “Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die,” which sold 84,000. Pusha T’s “My Name is My Name,” surfaced at number 4 with 75,000 sold.

Last week’s emotional tribute to Cory Monteith on “Glee” led the soundtrack to the top 10 for the first time in two years. The episode’s soundtrack landed at number 7 with 47,000 sold. Korn’s album “The Paradigm Shift” debuted at number 8. Following at number 9 was “The Voice” champion Cassadee Pope with her first full-length solo album, “Frame by Frame.” Mayday Parade rounded off the top 10 with their fourth release, “Monsters in the Closet,” which is a best for the band.

The holdovers this week are Drake’s “Nothing Was the Same” (No. 3), Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2″ (No. 5), and Lorde’s “Pure Heroine” (No.6).

After tonight’s latest episode of Glee, FOX aired a short promo for next weeks episode, “The Quarterback,” a farewell to Finn, and Cory Monteith. The emotional episode will premiere next Thursday at 9/8c. Along with the promo, FOX released the song list performed by the cast for next weeks episode: Seasons Of Love (Rent), I’ll Stand By You (The Pretenders), Fire and Rain (James Taylor), If I Die Young (The Band Perry), No Surrender (Bruce Springsteen), and Make You Feel My Love (Bob Dylan, covered by Adele).

Ryan Murphy stated earlier this month at a private screening for American Horror Story about the episode:

“And I struggled even working on it, because what you’re seeing is what they felt about not just Finn, but Cory, so I think it’s amazing performances across the board, and everybody went into it with a lot of love. What I loved about it is, you know when you write something like that, there’s no right way to do it, so we wrote it and we put people who were under contract to the show in it, and a lot of the actors contacted me and said, ‘I just love him so much — can I please be a part of it?’ So we put those people in. Iqbal [Theba], for example, who plays the principal and is now the janitor, was not written into that episode, but personally called up Brad and I and said, ‘For him, I want to be in it.’ It was rough. It was very rough. It was very rough with Lea [Michele] … but I’m very proud of it. I think the performances are quite stunning. People still are not over it — it’s still very, very difficult.”

Lea Michele made her first public appearance since the death of her “Glee” co-star and real life boyfriend, Cory Monteith, at the Teen Choice Awards on Sunday.

Michele made her way to the stage after winning the award for Choice TV Actress in a Comedy. The actress looked marvelous in a bright pink dress with matching shoes and a necklace that said “Cory,” but it was evident that her win was bittersweet. She was overwhelmed by emotion before she even opened her mouth.

“I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out there how much your love and support had meant to me over the past few weeks,” Michele said through tears.

She went on saying, “Not that I had any doubt before, but we certainly do have the greatest fans in the world. I want to dedicate this award to Cory.”

Monteith and Michele played an on-again, off-again couple on “Glee” and dated off-screen for about a year.

“For all of you out there who loved Cory as much as I did — I promise you we’ll get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or as Finn, he reached out and became a part of all of our hearts. So thank you guys so much,” Michele said.

Monteith, who co-hosted the Teen Choice Awards in 2010, was found dead on July 13 in Vancouver, British Columbia from a heroin and alcohol overdose. Michele and the rest of the “Glee” cast just started shooting for season 5 last week, this time without one of their principle cast members.

The rest of the cast also paid tribute to Monteith while accepting the award for Choice TV Comedy.

“Although we lost someone that we really love and that you guys love too we are very fortunate to come back to a show where we feel the love of family and Cory was like a brother to us,” said actress Amber Riley.

“We know that Cory would want to dedicate this award to you guys,” Jenna Ushkowitz said to the fans.

Monteith won a Teen Choice award for choice TV actor in a comedy in 2011 for his role as Finn Hudson.

The new season of “Glee” begins on Sept. 26.
