The glow of the night started long before any awards were handed out with stars exuding radiance on the red carpet throughout the night.

Metallics were clearly a theme for the night’s leading ladies and they rocked it. Priyanka Chopra, Ruth Negga, and Gina Rodriguez were just a few of the ladies whose metallic looks had us obsessed at first sight. They were simply stunning, commanded attention, and flattered their amazing figures.

We caught up with Paul Norton, the genius behind Gina Rodriguez’s gorgeous mane, and he gave us the 411 on of how to recreate her enviable locks.

“I wanted to create a modern yet vintage look for Gina this evening. Cabaret was my inspiration,” said Norton.

How to get Gina Rodriguez’s hair look:

Prep the hair with Joico Power Whip to add volume and make a deep side part. Use a round to smooth out the hair.

Step2:

Using a 1 inch curling iron curl the hair away from the face making sure to leave the ends out for a modern look. Norton suggest using JoiShape Shaping & Finishing Spray before curling as it gives the a hair a nice hold while still letting it maintain its movement.

Step 3:

Once curls are cooled Norton used KPAK Protect and Shine Serum to finger through the hair to add shine to the hair.

Step 4:

To finish off the look Norton used Joico Power Spray for hold and Joico Gold Dust Shimmer Spray to match to sparkle of Gina’s gorgeous dress.

We know America Ferrera wants it to be clear that she is NOT Gina Rodriguez, but we bet if she saw Rodriguez’s look at the Golden Globes last night she wouldn’t be as bothered by the mistake.

“Jane the Virgin” star, Rodriguez was one of the looks of the night we could not stop obsessing over. The star stunned in a gorgeous navy off the shoulder Zac Posen gown. Everything about the nominated actress’ look for the night was pure perfection from her glowing skin, sleek hair, and breathtaking dress.

We caught up with celebrity hairstylist Paul Norton, who got Rodriguez’s hair red carpet ready for the big night so he would give us all the details on how he achieved the look. Norton said, it was Gina’s gorgeous dress that inspired him to go for a classic yet retro feel with her hair.

Here’s how to get Gina’s hair look:

Step 1:
Start by prepping the hair with Joico Power Gel and Joico Heat Set and then blow dry with a GHD Ceramic Vented Radial Brush size 3 until it is completely dry. Leave each section of hair on the round brush for several seconds after removing the heat so that it will cool in that position and create a round feeling.

Step 2:
Use Joico Iron Clad to protect the strands from the heat and use a hair straightener (optimal temperature is 365 degrees) to ensure the style lasts longer without causing extra damage to hair. Using Iron Clad and the straightener smooth out the hair, focusing on the mid-shaft area so that the roots remain voluminous. Avoid the ends so they keep a gentle bend to them.

Step 3:
Spray Joico Hair Shake, which Norton likes to call his “back comb in a bottle,” at the roots of the hair. Once the Hair Shake is set back comb the root area around the crown as well as the majority of the back area of the head.

Step 4:
Use a straightener to smooth the front center area of the hair back away from the face. Follow up with Joico’s Crème Wax Texture and Shine to help control the back combed hair and confine it to the center area at the crown of the head. Allow the two areas on each side around the temple to hang freely for a more retro shape.

Step 5:
Use a curling iron to curl the three bottom inches of the hair away from your face. Once done curling use your fingers and rake through your hair to soften the curls and spraye ends with Joico Flip Turn Hair Spray.

Step 6:
Lastly, to finalize the look use Joico Flip Turn to eliminate any fly-aways. If all goes well you’ll be able to keep your hair camera ready like Gina’s for your big night.

While the show celebrated the excellence in this year’s television industry, many of the conversations online turned to the fashion hits and misses on the red carpet. Some of our favorite TV darlings and gents dressed to the nines for the special occasion, but there were some clear red carpet fashion faux pas.

Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez who is quickly becoming quite the burgeoning star, was one look of the night that simply dazzled. Gina radiated on the carpet wearing a Lorena Sarbu blush sweetheart neckline gown, Stuart Weitzman heels, accessorized with Forevermark jewelry, and a Judith Leiber clutch. Her simple hair and makeup pulled the look together, adding the perfect touch of elegance.

We were able to chat with Paul Norton, the celebrity hairstylist extraordinaire behind Gina’s look. He shared with us how he achieved her voluminous ponytail. His inspiration came from her gorgeous dress and its sweetheart neckline. Paul says, “I wanted to go for a very polished look on the top but yet very dramatic throughout the ponytail.”

How to get Gina Rodriguez’s hair look:

Step 1:
Paul started the process by washing Gina’s hair with Joico Color Infuse Brown Shampoo and Conditioner to richen up her dark tresses.

Step 2:
He then blew out her hair until fully dry, using a Mason Pearson brush only at the roots to give a wilder effect at the ends.

Step 3:
Once the hair was fully dry Paul applied Joico K-PAK Protect and Shine Serum at the roots and gathered the hair into a low ponytail with an elastic band. To ensure that the elastic band was unseen, he wrapped it with a strand of Gina’s own hair to conceal it, secured with bobby pins.

Step 4:
Paul then placed hot rollers in her ponied hair for 15 minutes. Once cooled he removed the rollers gently while combing the hair through with his fingers to work out the curls. Using Joico Hair Shake throughout the ponytail working in sections from the bottom up, Paul created volume. To create more separation and texture, the hair was back combed in sections with his fingers.

Step 5:
Lastly, he had Gina tilt her head back allowing the pony tail to hang freely while he used Joico Flip Turn hair spray to ensure the volume and separation would last all night long. Paul used a final spray of Flip Turn to take care of any fly aways.

The Emmys is one of those awards show where we expect the stars to pull out all the stops and this past Sunday was no exception, but what did surprise us were the amount of fashion risks we saw this year. Celebrities didn’t appear in the same boring ball gowns, we saw some unique looks and even those that tried difficult styles made it work (we’re looking at you Kerry Washington). Ok, not everyone made it work, there were a few misses in there, but we loved the looks on the whole. Take a look at our top picks for best and worst dressed at the Emmys.

Rosemary’s Pick: Kerry Washington looked absolutely stunning in a mixed metal mid length Marc Jacobs dress. The dress, which debuted just days before the Emmys at New York Fashion Week, had a lot going on but was paired perfectly with subtle jewelry and shoes. Kerry wore her hair up in a trendy faux bob to show off the dress’ unique shoulder embellishment. The mesh paneling, the studs, the silver and gold, everything about this dress came together perfectly for an edgy, fresh look.

Frances’ Pick: Sarah Hyland seems to be on her way to becoming a style icon. We recently put her on our best dressed list for the Teen Choice Awards and here she is looking stunning again. Normally her outfits are more on the cutesy side, but Hyland looked sleek and sophisticated in a burgundy Zac Posen dress. The form fitting column gown, gave her a nice womanly look and the matching Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira ruby accessories complemented the ensemble perfectly. The rear view, with its backless neckline detail made for amazing over the shoulder shots on the red carpet. Loved it!

history being just a little bit more sexy, glamorous, and edgy when it comes to fashion choices than other awards shows.

Recent Golden Globe winner and Jane the Virgin actress Gina Rodriguez was one of the presenters at this year’s Grammys. For the night she upped the sexy and brought out her inner diva with her form fitting gown and full bodied tresses.

The genius behind Gina’s amazing tresses was Celebrity hairstylist Paul Norton.

“Gina’s form fitting low cut gown made me instantly want to see her hair down with a wild, fuller, more ‘disco’ kind of curl. So I instantly invoked the diva’s from Studio 54,” Norton said.

Norton shared his process for achieving Gina’s look, which is sure to be a great addition to every girl’s arsenal of hair tricks. This look is especially perfect for those days you are looking to give your hair some fullness and a little extra va va voom, and who does not need that?

How to get Gina Rodriguez’s hair look:

Paul started the process by blowing Gina’s hair out with a cocktail of Joico JoiWhip and Joico Heat Set with a round brush until fully dry.

Next he took sections starting from the bottom to the top and sprayed each section with Joico IronClad to protect the hair from the heat.

He then took one inch sections again starting from the bottom and used a 3/4 size Marcel iron and wrapped each section leaving the ends out. This is what “gives a more edgy modern vibe to this studio 54 inspired look,” says Paul.

Once the entire head was curled, he used his fingers to comb through the hair and break up the curls and bring them to life. “Once the curls started to ignite, I then had Gina flip her head upside down and sprayed an ample amount of Joico Flip Turn to insure the fullness and longevity of the style,” says Paul.

For a volume in the top section Paul took horizontal sections and back-combed them at the roots to balance out the look.

Once done, Paul suggests taking a step back to see if there are any areas that needed a little extra detail. If there are switch to a one-inch Marcel iron and take random two-inch sections throughout the hair, and wrapping them around the iron and curl them in the opposite direction of the existing curls. According to Paul, this really helps amp up the texture.

Paul’s new favorite weapon is Joico’s all new Hair Shake that is not even out on the market yet. He uses this to on the entire head and then scrunches sections in his hands, “to give it a nice sexy messiness!” he says.

Lastly, he seals the deal with a final spray of Joico Flip Turn to keep the looking amazing all night long.
