Designer Claire Powers is bringing meaning and purpose back into the fashion world with her sustainable, eco-friendly fashion line KINDOM. 

Claire introduced her exclusive limited summer collection on Thursday, July 19 at a Summer Soiree pop up event held at the chic Downtown LA boutique Alchemy Works. Continuing with the brands commitment to the betterment of the environment and humanity as a whole the proceeds raised at the pop up event went to benefit the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, which works to end the destruction and slaughtering of the ocean’s wildlife.

KINDOM prides itself on using organic, recycled and plant-based materials like organic cotton, hemp, bamboo, Tencel and recycled polyester. Not only are the clothing items sustainable and compostable, but the packaging and bags are also as well. In a nod to 90’s fashion, the latest collection re-imagined popular styles like baby doll tops and dresses, embellished denim, wide leg patchwork pants, and casual maxi dresses all with the importance of versatility and sustainability in mind. KINDOM is proving that you don’t have to sacrifice quality or fashion while improving the world around you.

For the music lovers of the world April is known for one thing — and no it’s not April showers — we’re talking about Coachella, the ever growing music festival in Indio, California that boasts more diversity in its lineup than most other festivals. Every Coachella lineup usually includes at least one act from every musical genre — well, except for country, you don’t really see a lot of country.

But, for all the diversity in the music, most Coachella festival goers end up looking roughly the same every year. There is definitely a “signature” look amongst attendees. Generally if you spot denim hot pants, boots, and a floral bandeau top paired with a blossoming flower headband (or flower anything really), you know you’re right smack in the middle Coachella. Coachella is all about bringing out the inner hippie in all of us –also, it’s usually hot as balls —  so many of us like to show off our softer side while wearing as little clothes as possible.

There’s nothing wrong with going flower power for a weekend (or two, if you’re hardcore enough to attend both weekends), but with all the different kinds of music available for us to explore, isn’t it more fun to match your outfit to your musical mood? We certainly thought so and because we want to help you stand out from the crowd we matched some of our favorite celebrity looks from recent Coachella’s to the music genre they fit best.

These looks will help inspire you as you get ready for you weekend in the desert. And, to help make the process more fun, we created playlists to help keep you in the mood while you’re getting ready.

1. Hip hop/R&B – Amandla Stenberg

Our favorite hip hop looks are equal parts comfort, statement and nostalgia. Amandla Stenberg hit all these notes at the Calvin Klein party during weekend 1 of Coachella 2016. Her look was reminiscent of TLC’s signature look from the 90s, but she updated the crop top and baggy jeans look with wide-legged linen pants. If you’re going to Coachella for the hip hop chances are you want to dance and also listen to some sick lyrics. Listen to some Ice Cube to help you perfect the old school look and then throw in some DJ Mustard so you can see if your outfit passes the dancing test. 

2. Electronic – Ellie Goulding

Usually when electronic music and festivals come together, less is more in terms of clothing. But why not make your outfit a bit more sporty while jumping around to whichever DJ set you want to catch? Ellie Goulding did just the right amount of attention grabbing and comfort by mixing up her silver shorts with white sneakers, which we think “Kanye” would appreciate. Now comfortably wait for that bass to drop at Calvin Harris or Jack U’s sets

.

3. Pop – Kate Bosworth

Even though many people love to hate on pop music, there’s a reason its POPular- it’s easy to listen to, catchy, and fun. So shamelessly rock out to some Ellie Goulding, or go get “high on legal marijuana” with Halsey. As for what to wear, just turn to effortlessly chic Kate Bosworth- a simple white dress with an embroidered jacket will go a long way. It’s cute, it’s comfy and just a tad bit sleeker than the typical Coachella look.

4. Indie – Emma Roberts

Indie, short for independent, comes in many shapes and forms in the music and fashion world. To us indie is all about being different from whatever’s most popular. So ditch the flower crowns, the crazy patterns, and the big statement jewelry. Instead, chill out while discovering Beach House and BØRNS, and keep it simple and chic with a denim dress, like Emma Roberts at last weekend’s festivities.

5. Rock – Kendall Jenner

Rock style is easy to identify- lots of leather, back, studs, tights, and chunky boots. But why not take inspiration from rock women of the 70’s? Kendall Jenner did just that at the music festival in 2015 with an off the shoulder crop top and a maxi skirt with high slits. While you’re getting ready tune into the rock classics of Gun ‘N Roses, or discover bands like Moon Taxi and The Kills, each song is sure to inspire a different kind of look.

The Emmys is one of those awards show where we expect the stars to pull out all the stops and this past Sunday was no exception, but what did surprise us were the amount of fashion risks we saw this year. Celebrities didn’t appear in the same boring ball gowns, we saw some unique looks and even those that tried difficult styles made it work (we’re looking at you Kerry Washington). Ok, not everyone made it work, there were a few misses in there, but we loved the looks on the whole. Take a look at our top picks for best and worst dressed at the Emmys.

Rosemary’s Pick: Kerry Washington looked absolutely stunning in a mixed metal mid length Marc Jacobs dress. The dress, which debuted just days before the Emmys at New York Fashion Week, had a lot going on but was paired perfectly with subtle jewelry and shoes. Kerry wore her hair up in a trendy faux bob to show off the dress’ unique shoulder embellishment. The mesh paneling, the studs, the silver and gold, everything about this dress came together perfectly for an edgy, fresh look.

Frances’ Pick: Sarah Hyland seems to be on her way to becoming a style icon. We recently put her on our best dressed list for the Teen Choice Awards and here she is looking stunning again. Normally her outfits are more on the cutesy side, but Hyland looked sleek and sophisticated in a burgundy Zac Posen dress. The form fitting column gown, gave her a nice womanly look and the matching Lorraine Schwartz and Ofira ruby accessories complemented the ensemble perfectly. The rear view, with its backless neckline detail made for amazing over the shoulder shots on the red carpet. Loved it!

Robertson boulevard just got a little more fashionable with the grand opening of the very first US Tanya Heath Paris shoe store.

Between Schmider’s infectious charasmatic personality and the brilliant concept of Tanya Heath Paris it is only a matter of time before everyone falls in love with it all. BeautyCon and ELLE partnered up over Labor Day weekend to have the first ever New York BeautyCon summit. The summit brought together top digital fashion and beauty influencers, as well as their fans, at the trendy New York venue, Pier 36. BeautyCon and ELLE’s partnership in New York kicked off the 2014 BeautyCon event series, which will also take place in Los Angeles, Houston, and London throughout the year.

BeautyCon offered attendees a day long experience, which focused on the tech savvy, socially connected world that makes up the online beauty community today. From interactive presentations, panels, performances, shopping, games, and meet and greets, there was something for everyone to do at the event.

“As a leading multi-channel content brand, ELLE continues to align with strategic partners that not only extend our core editorial equities in beauty and fashion, but also offer relevant experiences for our readers and users. And we are excited to work with BeautyCon, a first-mover in the important blogger/vlogger space,” said Kevin O’Malley, Senior Vice President, Publisher & Chief Revenue Officer of ELLE.

BeautyCon brought in celebrity fans throughout the weekend as well. Stars like Whitney Port, Jesse Metcalfe, and Cara Santana stopped by to join in on the festivities. Joe Zee, Jay Manuel, Kandee Johnson, Johnny Wujek, Dulce Candy, Carli Bybel, MakeupByMandy24, Fleur De Force, Weylie, Coco & Breezy, Wendy Nguyen and many more fashion and beauty influencers also took part in BeautyCon by holding panels and meet and greets for fans.

Brands like Bare Minerals, Boohoo Clothing, Uberbliss, Tarte Cosmetics, Wildflower, Crown Brushes, Coco & Breezy, H0les, NYX Cosmetics, Revlon, American Apparel, Tattly, Square, StyleHaul, The Platform, Stack Wines, and RYB Apparel amplified the BeautyCon experience by giving fans a taste of the latest and best products in the industry.

With more than 4,500 fans in attendance for the first ever New York BeautyCon summit, the event was a great success. The event set the bar high for what’s to come with the BeautyCon series in the upcoming cities throughout the year.

Hollywood’s biggest night is always full of glamour and a little bit of anxiety. Everyone is wondering who’s going home with an Oscar and who will win on the red carpet. While there weren’t any surprises during the show itself, we were pleased to see the stars step up their style game. Many stars hit the mark with their gowns and tuxes. Even those who made the worst dressed weren’t really that bad. On a regular night they might’ve even made best dressed, but competition was too stiff to give everyone praise.  Rosemary’s Pick: Jennifer Lawrence managed to stand out on the red carpet in a red Dior dress that fit the starlet perfectly. As the face of Dior, Jennifer has worn dresses by the fashion house frequently, but this one, with the peplum detail and the fishtail skirt, is by far my favorite. She kept the look simple with a backwards necklace, diamond earrings, a ring on each hand, and a box clutch. Her short hair was teased backwards giving the beauty an elegant and sophisticated look, with just the right amount of sexy. I also love the fact that she stumbled over an orange cone on her way to the red carpet. Could Jennifer Lawrence really be any more perfect?

 Frances’ Pick: Considering all the praise Lupita Nyong’o received for her wardrobe this awards season, it’s really no surprise that she was the superstar of the night. Nyong’o dazzled in a powder blue Prada gown with crystal embellishments and a plunging neckline. Her Fred Leighton accessories were simple but beautiful — with a gold and diamond headband that complemented her cropped ‘do. She looked like Cinderella. I’m surprised she didn’t have cute talking animals following her around all night.

Sunday’s Golden Globes brought lots of laughs, memorable photo bombs and — most importantly — amazing red carpet looks that left us excited to see what the rest of award season will have in store for us.

Robin Wright has been having quiet the year so far with her engagement to actor Ben Foster, and her Golden Globe win for Best Actress — if only we all could have some of her luck this year. Let’s not forget how gorgeous she is and Sunday’s Golden Globes was no exception where she was the epitome of sex appeal, class and a bit of edge.

We caught up with celebrity hairstylist, and the man responsible for Robin’s sleek locks of night, Paul Norton for the details behind her look. Norton credited her beautiful, sparkling, nude Reem Acra dress as his inspiration for the look then he shared how he achieved this effortlessly sleek look.

Here are the steps to recreate Robin Wright’s Pixie perfection:

1. Norton prepped her damp hair with Joico Smooth Cure Shampoo and Conditioner to tame those pesky fly-aways.

2. He then gave her a quick trim to freshen her undercut and applied Joico’s JoiWhip firm-hold design foam.

3. Norton then blew Robin’s hair dry with a small Mason Pearson brush.  After applying Joico Texture Boost dry spray wax he selected sections throughout her hair lengths and began pinching and directing her hair forward. In Robin’s fringe area, he swept her hair to one side, allowing her cropped side to show giving it an edgy sexy feel.

“This gives the hair a nice edge, while keeping it super sexy and alluring with bangs that cascade over the brows,” said Norton.

4. Lastly for long-lasting, yet touchable hold and a great boost of shine, he finished with a mist of Joico JoiMist Firm finishing hair spray.

How to get Robin Wright’ s makeup look:

The secrets to Robin’s look did not stop there celebrity makeup artist, Tricia Sawyer, gave us the inside scoop on how she achieved Robin’s radiant look. Orlane products were Sawyer’s secret to achieving this look.

1. To prep the skin, Sawyer used Orlane’s Absolute Skin Recovery Anti-Fatigue Masque. Afterward, she applied Anti-Fatigue Absolute Radiance Cream all over the face. “I love this cream because it helps to retain moisture for long periods of time and Robin has a long night ahead of her so it’s perfect!” Sawyer said.

2. Using Orlane’s Absolute Skin Recovery Smoothing Foundation in Shade 20 with the Antonym Foundation Brush, Sawyer gave Wright that great coverage and concealed her uneven spots — you know the annoying ones we all have. To set the foundation, she dusted Orlane’s Poudre Libre all over the face.

3. To attract light for all the photos Wright would be taking  throughout the night Sawyer made sure to highlight her face. She used a shine stick on Wright’s cheekbones, cupid’s bow, and the center of her nose. She then used a Dior coral blush on the apples of her cheeks and the Orlane Bronzer under her cheekbones and on her jawline for more dimension.

4. For Wright’s eyes, Sawyer applied Antonym’s Certified Natural Eyeliner in Noir along the inside of the eyes and on the outer rim. She smudged it out with a small eye shadow brush and then used a customized eye shadow palette for a nude look. After applying a strip of lashes, she applied Orlane’s Volume Care Mascara on the lashes. To give her lips a bit of color, Sawyer used Dior Addict’s Gloss in #343.  She then used Orlane’s Refining Arm Cream to moisturize Robin’s arms and finished the look by applying Orlane Bronzer to give her an overall bronze-y look.

Was anyone as disappointed with the red carpet fashion at the American Music Awards as we were? Black and white dresses lined the red carpet, as well as a lot of fashion DON’Ts. Stars like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, One Direction, Christina Aguilera, Ciara, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, and so many more flaunted there stylish (and not so stylish) threads, as they prepared to celebrate the fan voted music awards show. See what looks Frances and Rosemary loved most, as well as a gallery of the best and worst dressed, below.

FRANCES: Taylor Swift looked absolutely stunning in a gold Julie MacDonald mini dress. It reminded me a little bit of Tina Turner’s old sequined looks, but in a good way. I love sparkle and gold is a great color on Taylor. Plus, she also has great legs to show off just like miss Turner. The triangle cutout in the middle gave the dress some extra edge and it was nice to see Taylor rocking a different beauty look too. Her nude lips and gold eye shimmer drove even more attention to the dress. A+ in my book.

ROSEMARY: Only Katy Perry can somehow look girly and edgy at the same time. Katy wore a strapless polka dot Oscar de la Renta dress with flowers sprinkled on the skirt. She paired the dress with a yellow clutch and a big, pink ring to add the perfect amount of color to her mostly black dress. Katy’s faux curly bob showed off her shoulders and made her look sexy without showing off too much skin. Katy looked feminine and beautiful, with an added touch of spunk. The dress could have easily fallen into the boring category, but the touch of flowers, accessories, make-up, and hair all came together perfectly to make Katy the best dressed of the night.

The Emmy’s were made to celebrate achievements in television, but let’s face it, the real reason many of watch award shows is to see what people wore on the red carpet. This year, the fashion ranged from boring to ridiculous, leaving us with some fashion highs and lows. The best this year included simple but beautiful dresses (Tina Fey, Taylor Schelling) and the worst included some ladies who tried a little too hard to push the envelope (Julianne Hough, Zosia Mamet). While many of us enviously look online getting recaps on this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, some of our favorite stars were in attendance looking amazing as always. With so many fashionable looks being seen, it was hard to pick just one person’s closet to raid. But, it was fashion It-Girl Olivia Palermo who continuously stole our hearts show after show.
