The MTV Video Music Awards are known for not only some crazy on-stage moments, but for the outrageous fashion on the red carpet. Celebrities forgo any and all fashion rules to make statements or to simply grab some headlines. Miley Cyrus turned heads in a silver barely there number, while Nick Jonas made us sweat (not in a good way) while draped in head to toe leather. Still, some stars managed to turn heads for their impressive style.

Rosemary’s Pick: Kourtney Kardashian. With all the outrageous outfits on the red carpet, it was no easy feat to stand out in a simple bright coral jumpsuit, but Kourtney managed to pull it off. Kourtney paired the outfit with gold jewels, heels and a matching clutch. The eldest of the Kardashian sisters wore her dark hair straight and sleek giving her a sexy sophisticated look. No doubt about it, Kourtney dropped jaws as she stepped out in the Balmain number. (Also, thank you for giving short girls everywhere hope for rocking a jumpsuit!)

Frances’ Pick: Nicki Minaj. Nicki is known for her crazy red carpet outfits, especially for award shows like the VMA’s, but she kept things a little more low key in a metallic gold sheer dress by Labourjoisie. Don’t get me wrong, she was showing a lot of skin, but the pearl accents and perfectly placed cutouts made the outfit look more sophisticated versus flashy. Her perfectly contoured face makeup, winged eyeliner and blunt bangs hairstyle gave her a gorgeous natural makeup look that completed the ensemble.

The 2015 Teen Choice Awards have come and gone, but we can’t get over the impressive style we saw on the red blue carpet (it’s hard to look glamorous when it’s a 100 degrees outside).

Hollywood’s hottest young stars made the hot Los Angeles weather sizzle even more with their outfits. Many of them proved they are just as stylish as their older counterparts, but as is true for all awards shows not everyone could get the thumbs up.

Rosemary’s Pick: Sarah Hyland. Even while she tripped on stage, Sarah looked amazing in a yellow matching Christian Siriano two piece. The flirty outfit was paired with beautiful blue earrings and white sandal stilettos. The look screamed “summer” with her on-trend tousled bob. While many others on the carpet failed to realize they were at the Teen Choice Awards (not a club, not a friend’s house, not the VMAs) in 90 degree weather, Sarah’s look was appropriate for the event.

 Frances’ Pick: Are ties allowed in this game? I technically make the rules so it shouldn’t matter, but in the spirit of picking an official “best dressed,” I’m going to give it to Lucy Hale. Hale wears a sophisticated –but still weather appropriate– embroidered black and blue mini dress with a plunging v-neck by British designer Julien MacDonald. She wore electric blue eye makeup to match, which could have looked tacky, but in this case was playful.

Honorable mention: Italia Ricci in a gorgeous yellow and gray, floral dress with bedazzled heels.

On Sunday, teens had their voices heard for the 17th Teen Choice Awards. Even though we started feeling a bit old as we realized that many faces on stage were unfamiliar (all the ‘web stars,’ for example), the Teen Choice Awards remain as one of the most fun, endearing award shows. As celebrities took the stage to receive their surfboards, many reminded teens to be true to themselves and to never give up because they are the future.

This Wednesday begins the Judge’s House round on X Factor, which determines the contestants who will move on to the live shows. Each judge will be given a category (ages, groups, solo artists, etc), and will mentor those contestants for the remainder of the competition. Before mentoring, each judge and the guest mentor get to decide who moves on from the judge’s house onto the shows. Justin Beiber teamed up with LA Reid, Marc Anthony with Simon Cowell, Nick Jonas with Demi Lovato, and will.I.am with Britney Spears.
