MTV’s popular reboot series “Scream,” returns to the network for its second season on May 31 — a return accompanied by quite a few changes in Lakewood.

Based on the Wes Craven-directed film franchise of the same name, the show has brought in new showrunners and added six new faces to its cast (two of them series regulars).

Season two, which is in production in New Orleans, picks up with Emma’s (Willa Fitzgerald) return to Lakewood after spending several months at a retreat recovering from the horrors of last season. In a situation not so different from Neve Campbell’s Sidney Prescott in the films, everyone is walking on eggshells around Emma, and questioning whether she has truly gotten over the killer’s crimes.

Meanwhile, Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus) is hiding her connection to the killer, but someone who knows the truth is threatening to expose her secret. Brooke (Carlson Young) and Jake (Tom Maden) are also keeping secrets — they are hiding a budding romance from Mayor Maddox (Bryan Batt). And, Noah (John Karna) is getting closer to the truth about the season one murders.

Joining the cast as series regulars are Kiana Lede (“The Smurfs 2″) as Zoe, a driven overachiever at the high school who –surprise, surprise– harbors a secret; and Santiago Segura (Silicon Valley) as Gustavo Acosta, a dark, brooding, and handsome outsider with a love for art, horror, serial killers and comics.

The show has also enlisted four newcomers as recurring characters in season two. Anthony Ruivivar (“Banshee,” The CW’s “Frequency” pilot) will play Sheriff Michael Acosta, Gustavo’s father and a former Lakewood resident who returns to the town where he grew up; Austin Highsmith (“Criminal Minds”) will play Karen Lang, a psychology teacher who becomes a confidant and mentor to her students; Sean Grandillo (Broadway’s “Spring Awakening”) will join as Eli, Kieran’s (Amadeus Serafini) cousin; and Katrina Logue (“Bates Motel”) will play Tina Hudson, a proper girl with a grifter’s sense of self-reliance.

Aside from cast additions, “Scream,” is making some changes behind the scenes with new showrunners Michael Gans and Richard Register (“Make It or Break It,” “Celebrity Deathmatch”). It will be interesting to see how Gans and Register will change the show creatively.

The series returns Tuesday, May 31, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on MTV, but those who need to catch up on the first season can grab a copy of the DVD when Anchor Bay Entertainment and Dimension TV release season 1 on May 10.

Musician Josh Stevens and America’s Next Top Model contestant Naima Mora delivered exactly that with their pre-Grammy Gala at the Redbury in Hollywood. Steven’s and Mora created an intimate and trendy rooftop party to help celebrate music’s biggest night.

Stevens, a record producer, songwriter, engineer and singer recently released his very own EP, “Story of Summer.” Mora, who is also a singer when she’s not modeling, has been touring with Stevens. The two performed their latest singles and Mora debuted her clothing line Naima X Hitoma.

Check out what they had to say about their sound, the Grammys and their love of music.

The 73rd annual Golden Globes was full of some surprising wins on Sunday (even more surprising than usual). Even with positive critic reviews for revenge drama “The Revenant,” not many expected it to nab the best drama award, and while “The Martian” has been a commercial success, a Best Comedy award was confusing to most.

The two films together won the most film awards than any other nominated film. Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu’s won best drama, best director and Leonardo DiCaprio took home best actor. “The Revenant” was followed close behind by Ridley Scott’s “The Martian,” which aside from being named best musical or comedy by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, also bestowed Matt Damon with the award for best actor in a musical or comedy for his work in the film.

Other winners in the film categories included Brie Larson (best actress in a drama for “Room”), Jennifer Lawrence (best actress in a musical or comedy for “Joy”), Sylvester Stallone (best supporting actor for “Creed”), Kate Winslet (best supporting actress for “Steve Jobs”), and Aaron Sorkin (best screenplay for “Steve Jobs”).

Going into the broadcast, Todd Haynes’ “Carol” and Adam McKay’s “The Big Short” outnumbered all the other nominees with five and four nominations each. Unfortunately, both films went home empty handed on Sunday night.

The critically acclaimed film “Spotlight” also lost its bids for best screenplay, best drama, and best director. With only 90 voting members in the HFPA, their choices aren’t always in sync with the rest of us, but the results of the night have many wondering how their picks will align with the Academy when the Oscar nominations are announced on Thursday.

On the television side, two newcomers–and relatively unknown shows– took home top honors: “Mr. Robot” was named best drama series, while “Mozart in the Jungle” took home best comedy. Other first-time winners included Rachel Bloom (best actress in a comedy for “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”) and Lady Gaga.

This year’s Golden Globes ceremony was hosted by Ricky Gervais. The acerbic comic made his fourth appearance as Globes host, and first since the 2012 broadcast, and his return was met with plenty of controversy. He opened the show with a monologue that referred to how Caitlin Jenner’s transition did no favors to female drivers, which sparked plenty of criticism on social media, later in the show he also mocked Mel Gibson and Bill Cosby.

Halloween night is upon us and most of us are gearing up for a night of candy corn (ok maybe no one actually eats the candy corn) and costumes, but in Hollywood, it’s been Halloween pretty much all month. Just like Christmas decorations going up when it’s still warm out, it’s now fashionable to celebrate Halloween all month long. And, even though celebs have been prepped all month long, some of us are still struggling to find a last minute costume.

These costumes could serve as great inspiration for the rest of us tonight. Although, some of these might not work as last minute outfits –we’re looking at you Colton Haynes.

Still, we’re not complaining when the results are as good as these.

1. Chloe Bennet: The Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D actress decided to test the old “she’d look good in a paper bag” idiom. This costume would helpfully double as a snack for drunken revelers

2. Miranda Kerr: It probably wasn’t a huge challenge for a stunning model to transition into a stunning actress but regardless: Kerr looks spectacular. The phone’s a bit of a giveaway though.

3. Emily Bett: The Arrow star went all in on her brilliant Sailor Moon outfit, which is sure to please the millions of fans with crushes on Felicity Smoak. And she wasn’t the only Arrow cast member to commit to a character…

4. Colton Haynes: Yes, that really is Colton Haynes AKA Roy Harper AKA Arsenal under that makeup. The former Arrow heartthrob shone last Halloween as Princess Fiona but he may have outdone himself this year.

5. “The Vampire Diaries” star already vaguely resembles a young Victoria Beckham, so dressing up as Posh Spice is the perfect costume for her. Her friend didn’t put much effort into playing Ginger though, she couldn’t even be bothered to source a wig.

6. Chrissy Tiegen decided to forgo the traditional sexy “whatever” costume for a creative pop culture reference. The model appeared on ABC’s “FABLife” as TV chef Guy Fieri. We love her sense of humor.

There’s been a big void in our hearts, yearning for sappy love songs by a British lady with a large voice, and after a four year hiatus, Adele just came back to fill it. Though you may not have realized you needed a good cry this week, Adele’s recording breaking music video debut for her latest single “Hello,” proves we were missing all the feels.

Adele’s first music video in four years smashed records at Vevo.com, garnering more than 27 million views in the first 24 hours of its release.

Vevo representatives said on Monday that the video, which debuted exclusively on its site on Friday, beat the previous record holder, Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” video by more than seven million views. Swift’s video was seen 20 million times in the first 24 hours after its release in May.

And dethroning Taylor Swift from her position wasn’t the video’s only achievement. “Hello” is also the first music video to be partially shot using IMAX cameras. Director Xavier Dolan talked about how he used the cameras in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“The shots on IMAX are two shots: mostly the finale on that pond, and there’s the shot of her opening her eyes. I love an introduction like that,” Dolan said. “It just seemed nice: she had been gone for three or four years. So she’s settling in and taking all of those curtains and sheets off, ripping them down from the walls. It’s like Adele coming back home.”

“Hello” went viral within hours of its release and as of today has been viewed more than 73 million times. It is the first single from Adele’s upcoming November album, “25,“ the first since “21” won six Grammy awards and sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. We were talking about internet sensations though, and the video still has a ways to go if Adele wants to unseat Swift’s other big Vevo record. “Blank Space” was recently named the all-time most-viewed video on Vevo, with 1.2 billion views and counting. It remains to be seen whether “Hello” will make it to the next Vevo milestone, but as a whole the song is doing extremely well.

While figures for early downloads of the heartfelt ballad probably won’t be available until next week, music website Billboard.com said digital sales could also break records.

Billboard reported that some music industry sources estimated that “Hello” sold about 450,000 in its first two days on sale, and could top the Billboard Hot 100 singles charts next week.

After weeks of frustratingly enigmatic teasers, Netflix finally released the first full-length “Jessica Jones“ trailer today.

With the premiere now only a month away, fans have been anxiously waiting to see what the show is all about. Within the first few seconds of the trailer we can see it’s really dark. The trailer gives us a first look at Jones (Krysten Ritter), a wounded former superhero now just trying to get by as a private detective. Though we aren’t shown exactly why Jones gave up the superhero life, it becomes clear early in the trailer that she has a complicated and haunting past.

We see her as she throws a guy face-first through her office door. (It’s exactly how her comic book, Alias, opens.) Then in a voiceover we hear her say, “a big part of the job is looking for the worst in people, turns out I excel at that,” followed by a glimpse at her powers (she can punch through walls, stop slow-moving cars, and execute high-flying leaps). Then she confides in Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and talks about her past with a man named Killgrave (David Tennant) — otherwise known as the Purple Man in the comics. From there, all hell breaks loose. Killgrave has the ability to control minds and has messed with Jones on more than one occasion. The trailer hints that maybe he forced her to do something terrible and as it turns out, Zebediah Killgrave isn’t quite out of her life — or her head — just yet.
Netflix has planned Marvel’s “Jessica Jones” as the second of four epic live-action adventure series’ (“Daredevil,” which launched April 10th, “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist,” all leading up to the teaming of the main characters in “The Defenders”) to premiere exclusively on Netflix.

The first episode premiered at New York Comic-Con earlier this month, and, judging from the performances, the atmosphere, and the writing, the series has the potential to be as excellent as “Daredevil.” It already looks like it will be grittier.

All 13 episodes of “Jessica Jones” will premiere on Netflix November 20.

Jennifer Lawrence isn’t really known as someone who frequently speaks up about feminism, she gets more attention for her funny red carpet moments, photobombs and, of course, films, but on feminism she’s self-admittedly stayed mum — that is until this past Tuesday when she wrote an essay expressing her anger over sexism in Hollywood.

While the Oscar-winner actress said she’s “remained ever-so-slightly quiet” on feminist issues because she does not like to participate in “conversations that feel like they’re trending,” she acknowledged that the only way to make change is by talking and J. Law was ready to speak out.

In an article on Lena Dunham’s site Lenny, Lawrence sounded off about being paid less than her male co-stars on “American Hustle,” and other double standards between men and women. She said she was, “over trying to find the ‘adorable’ way to state my opinion and still be likable!”

Lawrence said she only found how much less she was being paid when emails from Sony Pictures were hacked last November.

“When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with dicks, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself,” Lawrence said. “I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn’t want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don’t need. (I told you it wasn’t relatable, don’t hate me).”

While the amount of money at stake may not have been relatable, her reasons for not pushing harder have circled through most women’s minds –it was about being likable. Many women worry about how they will come off to others and it can interfere with the way they have business conversations, Lawrence was no different.

“If I’m honest with myself, I would be lying if I didn’t say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight,” Lawrence said. “I didn’t want to seem ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.’ At the time, that seemed like a fine idea, until I saw the payroll on the Internet and realized every man I was working with definitely didn’t worry about being ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.'”

Her worries over how she was perceived in negotiations also got her thinking about the way people expect women to talk. She pointed out that when women are blunt or stern people treat them as though they are angry.

“A few weeks ago at work, I spoke my mind and gave my opinion in a clear and no-bullshit way; no aggression, just blunt. The man I was working with (actually, he was working for me) said, ‘Whoa! We’re all on the same team here!’ As if I was yelling at him,” she noted.

She then pointed out that men don’t have to think about how people will interpret the things they say.

“I don’t think I’ve ever worked for a man in charge who spent time contemplating what angle he should use to have his voice heard,” Lawrence said.

In the end she acknowledged that she couldn’t be sure her experiences were due to sexism, but that she’s never really seen other men in her predicament either.

“Again, this might have NOTHING to do with my vagina, but I wasn’t completely wrong when another leaked Sony email revealed a producer referring to a fellow lead actress in a negotiation as a “spoiled brat.” For some reason, I just can’t picture someone saying that about a man.”

Neither could we J. Law, neither could we.

After the essay hit the internet by storm, many of her Hollywood peers commented in support of her stance.

Selena Gomez has finally opened up about the real reason she was forced to take a break from the limelight.

In a recent interview with “Billboard” magazine Gomez discussed her struggles with lupus for the first time. While reports that Gomez was battling the autoimmune disease first broke nearly two years ago, the singer never addressed the claims and her reps wouldn’t confirm or deny any health problems.

Now, after years of speculation –and several reports that she may be dealing with drug and alcohol abuse– the 23-year-old has decided to set the record straight.

“I was diagnosed with lupus, and I’ve been through chemotherapy. That’s what my break was really about. I could’ve had a stroke,” Gomez said in the interview, referring to a period in late 2013 and early 2014 when the singer suddenly canceled the Asian and Australian leg of her Stars Dance tour.

The cancellation prompted rumors that she was dealing with addiction and soon after reports started coming in saying Gomez had entered rehab. Her rep at the time confirmed that the singer sought treatment at Dawn at The Meadows recovery facility in Wickenburg, Ariz., for “emotional issues” and “partying,” but specified she wasn’t seeking treatment for substance abuse.

So while Gomez did stay in rehab for two weeks in February 2014, at some point she apparently also underwent chemotherapy to treat her lupus.

“I wanted so badly to say, ‘You guys have no idea. I’m in chemotherapy. You’re assholes.’ I locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again,” she told Billboard.

The Lupus Foundation of America describes lupus as “a chronic, autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body (skin, joints, and/or organs inside the body). Chronic means that the signs and symptoms tend to last longer than six weeks and often for many years.”

There is no cure for lupus though patients often go through periods of remission followed by flare ups. According to the Cleveland Clinic, chemotherapy usually isn’t the first course of treatment unless diagnosis is severe. Strokes are also one of the more rare symptoms of lupus so for Gomez to have been told she was at risk is pretty serious. Without proper treatment lupus can be life threatening.

While the singer didn’t elaborate on the current status of her health, she did open up to Us Weekly about her mental health.

“This was the first year I ever dealt with anyone talking about my body,” Gomez told the magazine. “I’d land at the airport and people would yell out, ‘You’re fat!’ It was awful. I’ve been working in therapy. Even if I did gain weight, I’m fine.”

Gomez also touched on her body image issues again in the Billboard interview.

“I was in a bikini and got publicly ripped for being overweight,” Gomez said. “I believed some of the words they were saying. When somebody else has your self-esteem in their hands …”

Gomez says she put some of that negativity to good use, revealing that the comments from body-shamers inspired her to pose nude on the cover of new album “Revival.” She further explained that she’s been channeling her frustrations and anger into the music, and credits her critics as one of the driving forces for the album.

“I’m so f–king nice to everybody, and everyone is so vile to me. I’ve been working since I was 7. I’ve been a UNICEF ambassador since I was 17. It’s so disappointing that I’ve become a tabloid story,” Gomez said. “The hate motivated me.”

The full “Billboard” cover story will be released Oct. 8.

After all the hype leading up to (and the plethora of headlines that came immediately following) the two hour series premiere of “Scream Queens,” it’s safe to say that Ryan Murphy has done it again. And by done it again we either mean incredibly offended a bunch of people or has everyone talking about how clever he is, you can take your pick.

While we will say that we were thoroughly entertained by the hysterically gory slasher film homage that is “Scream Queens,” we’re not here to rehash what happened in the premiere episode –or to discuss whether or not Murphy is a racist. We’re here to go over all the fantastically witty and bitchy quotes from the pilot.

Love it or hate it, “Scream Queens” was stock full of devilishly insane, rude, and completely memorable quotes that will be stuck in our heads for weeks. Seriously, these lines are on par with “Heathers” –which we’re sure is no coincidence considering how many times the show has already been compared to said film.

Anyway, without further adieu, here are the most iconic quotes from the two-hour premiere, presented without context because spoilers:

1. “Historically short people are sneaky backstabbers —like Napoleon or Paul Scaffer.” – Chanel

2. “I do sort of love you, but I would love you a lot more if other people loved you too.” -Chad

3. “Shandell, why you gotta knife through your throat?” – Denise

4. “You don’t get STDs from blood oaths, you get STDs from dirty toilet seats and drinking the water in Mexico.” – Chanel
5. “I didn’t even know I was pregnant, I thought I was having a bread baby” -Sorority Girl from the 90s

6. “Private, like the parts of a man that you like to put in your mouth?” -Boone

7. “Now make me look like Jada Pinkett Smith” -Melanie

8. “You’re awful” -Dean Munsch “Maybe, but I’m rich and I’m pretty, so it doesn’t really matter.” – Chanel

9. “I call it the Nancy Meyers experience because when you burn it, it smells like creamy couches and menopause. You know like a Nancy Meyers movie. Four stars!” – Breezy

10. “I just think you are amazing Chad. Anyone you dated would be popular. I mean, they would be popular because they’re dating you.” -Chanel

11. “Like yes I could find a random girl who wasn’t popular and yes if I started dating her she would then become popular… dude that is a great idea for a movie. Somebody should make that movie. I wanna see that movie” – Chad
“Me too. You know who should direct that movie, Michael Bay, the greatest director of all time.” – Boone

12. “We’re just trying to have a nice day, hitting golf balls at hippies” -Chad

13. “Shut up! You don’t die from getting your face burned off” – Chanel
“Yes you do!” -Zayday

14. “No one forced that goat to get as drunk as he did. That’s on him.”“We’re having a side-boob mixer followed by a white party where everyone in attendance is actually white.”
