This season of “How I Met Your Mother” has been pretty slow minus a few highly anticipated moments- like when we finally saw some interaction between The Mother and Ted. But finally, with “No Questions Asked” we got to see the gang interact in their special quirky way.

Last week‘s episode ended when Marshall’s road trip partner Daphne, sent Lily a text revealing Marshall’s new job. Marshall called his friends to ask one favor- with no questions asked: delete the last text on Lily’s phone. And just like when Robin tried stealing Barney’s play book, everything turned into a mess.

Ted was called upon (he was the 9th person Marshall called) after owing Marshall for helping him out of a mailbox he was stuck in while trying to retrieve a creepy love letter he almost sent. Instead of taking the obvious route to Lily’s room (the door’s lock was broken), he decided to enter through the drain pipe. This didn’t work, and instead scared Lily. Lily was, un admittedly, already frightened due to the fact that Marshall had requested room 13, which was haunted by the ghost of Deerduff the Hooker.

When Ted realized he had probably failed, he heard noises coming from the air ducts. It was Barney, who also made up an elaborate plan to get to the phone. Marshall had signed Barney out of the hospital after staff deemed him a danger to himself since he swallowed all the real-life versions of the Lucky Charms marshmallows, on a bet of course, therefor owing Marshall a no questions asked. Finding Barney did nothing but confuse Lily.

Lily was already annoyed by all the intrusions, all the “ghost” caused problems in the room like the door lock being broken, and after receiving some unwanted room service, left the room to go yell at the front desk. But before the gang realized she had left, they saw Robin was also in on the plan to get the phone, as she also owed Marshall a no questions asked after he caught her from a fall during what seemed like a vigilante group outing (still so many questions). Robin was hiding in the room service cart. But alas, she didn’t get the phone either. The phone was with Lily downstairs.

While Ted left to go get the phone, Barney and Robin realized that they were about to go off on their own adventures to get the phone, instead of becoming a team. They realized, for the second time in the episode (Barney ordered doves for the wedding, Robin’s family was planning a gun salute), that they don’t communicate. They are both “lone wolves.” Eventually they realized they could become a team, but to pick a weak part of the episode, the conversation seemed trite.

Meanwhile, downstairs Ted realized that Lily owed him a no questions asked after delivering cupcakes to Lily’s classroom only to find her tied up and surrounded by little kids. He asked her to smash the phone and so she did. This prompted Ted to ask Marshall why he hadn’t just asked Lily to delete the text, no questions asked. Marshall said he didn’t have any with Lily; they told each other everything. This made him realize, he had to tell her. Lily’s reaction: She might kill Marshall.

As charming as this episode was, we need to see some ends tied up. What’s going to happen with Lily and Marshall? WHEN WILL SEE MORE OF THE MOTHER?!

Last night’s episode of “How I Met Your Mother,” involved a strict reverend, some crazy girl antics in the form of Cassie (guest star Anna Camp), and some role playing with Daphne and Marshall.

After an “Indiana Jones” flashback starring Ted and Barney on a quest to make the wisest choice, Barney and the gang wanted to make sure Ted found his wedding weekend fling. Unfortunately (or, in the long run, fortunately?), Ted made a poor decision in choosing straight-forward Cassie. Just as soon as Cassie seemed to be the perfect candidate (she told Ted, “Let’s have meaningless sex first, and flirt later”), she got fired from her job where she found out everyone hated her. To make matters worse, she was rebounding from a break-up. Things continued to fall downhill as Ted became more of a shoulder to cry on for Cassie, than her “meaningless sex” partner. Ted’s sad attempt to seal the deal with Cassie, or even second choice Grace, just proved one thing: WE WANT MORE OF THE MOTHER. Surely Ted was hoping for a fling during the weekend to get his mind off Robin, and if we didn’t know that the wedding would bring him to The Mother, this would just be depressing.

Meanwhile, we learn that Barney and Robin hired a strict, grumpy reverend, played by guest star Edward Herrmann, to officiate their wedding. The choice was because his church had “cute coming out the wazoo.” Unfortunately, to convince him that they were not the typical “promiscuous, boozy couple” from the city, the two lied about how they met. Instead of telling their complicated, and well, promiscuous story, the couple pretend to have Lily and Marshall’s story. Cue to an amazing flashback of how Lily and Marshall met, but with Robin and Barney taking their places respectively. Lily then had to tell the reverend her story of how she and Marshall met. Cue to an equally amazing flashback of how Robin and Barney met, with Lily as Robin and Marshall as a suited-up Barney.

Barney and Robin eventually come clean to the reverend — in detail. The mention of sex with hundreds of women, cheating, sex in the church, proved too much for the reverend to handle. The reverend who repeatedly said, “This is killing me,” in fact died, probably before hearing Barney tell Robin, “ “I love our story. Sure it’s messy, but it’s the story that got us here.”

Somewhere on the road to Farhampton, Marshall and Daphne rehearsed ways to tell Lily about his judgeship offer. Some mildly funny scenes happened with Daphne’s voice over Lily. But really, enough with this and get Marshall back with the gang. Marshall let it slip to Daphne that he had taken the job already, without talking to Lily. So, Daphne took things into her own hands, and texted Lily the new information. And then Marshall’s phone rang.

So the episode ended with two cliffhangers: What will Lily say to Marshall, and who will officiate the wedding?

The second (or technically, third?) episode of the very last season of How I Met Your Mother provided all sorts of awesomeness- although we still haven’t reached the exact moment Ted meets The Mother. After getting a sneak preview of their chemistry, we want to see more of their relationship. Nonetheless, the episode provided enough life lessons and laughs to make us wish the series would go on forever.

It’s 52 hours before the Stinson-Scherbatsky wedding, and their elderly relatives have arrived. With fear that their flame will burn out after they exchange vows, Barney and Robin try to have one last round of great sex in a random place. They find this to be harder than they imagined, and find themselves trying not to say “Many Patinkin” with fear that the name would draw their relatives. After walking in on Robin’s great grandparents doing the deed, with 60 years of marriage on their belt, the couple realize they have nothing to worry about. The gross, traumatizing old couple having sex at such an age will be them. (Cue the awws — albeit weird awws.)

Meanwhile, Marshall is still on his road trip to get back to New York with Daphne. This plot line is already tired. Can Marshall and Marvin just get back to the Gang? But to compliment the light nature of Robin and Barney’s story line, we have Ted’s, and his list of things to do before he leaves New York. Lily finds Ted’s list, and finds many of the things are expected: fix the graffiti to “YOU’RE A PENIS” from “YOUR A PENIS,” say goodbye to the Empire State Building, and buy everyone at MacLaren’s a round of drinks. As anyone who has kept up with the series, Ted’s love for New York has always been obvious. The architecture, his hatred for New Jersey (as any true New Yorker would have), all prove how difficult it must be for Ted to say goodbye.

Also on the list, “Come Clean about April 26th ,” which Ted did. The dress Lily was planning to wear to the wedding was destroyed by Ted, Marshall, and some swords. Yep, the swords that almost killed Lily in season 1. Lily also comes clean about something that happened with the swords; She and Robin broke Ted’s $600 bottle of Scotch. This comes up after Lily reads another item on Ted’s list: have one more scotch with Barney. Lily confronts Ted about this. Has he been avoiding Barney? Lily advises Ted to say goodbye to the bad things in New York, not the good, to “all the times you felt lost, all the times it was a no instead of a yes, scrapes and bruises, heartache. Goodbye to everything you really want to do for the last time.” His last drink with Barney should instead be “the first toast to Barney’s new life.”

And with those inspiring words from Lily, Ted crossed out the last item on the list: “One last life lecture from Lily.” Lily reassures him that that was not the life lesson (at least not for Ted. For us, could be). The episode ends with Ted on his way to toast Barney, when Barney blurts out, “I saw you and Robin by the carousel.”

We don’t want this to end. Ever. Can they make a “And that’s How I Married Your Mother with My Awesome Friends By My Side” spin-off?

The premiere of the very last season of “How I Met your Mother” revealed little new information, but it was enough to keep fans on edge.

The Mother finally meets a member of The Gang, and we see, for the first time, an interaction between Ted and The Mother. The entire final season will take place in the 55 hours leading up to Barney and Robin’s wedding, but in true HIMYM fashion, with lots of flashbacks and looks into the future.

At the end of season 8, we saw Ted heading to Chicago after the wedding, Lily and Marshall’s plans to move to Rome afterwards, Marshall getting a judgeship but not telling Lily, and Barney and Robin planning for the rest of their lives together. Now, the gang is on its way to Farhampton to see Robin and Barney walk to aisle.

After Ted pesters Lily during their road trip with his grandma style driving in driving gloves, ideal pit stops, and random trivia, Lily decides to take the train to Farhampton. As fate would have it, the Mother is also on the train. After Lily mutters the words “lonely” and “unicorn” when thinking about missing Marvin, the Mother turns to Lily and asks if she’s okay, but also that hearing those words gave her a great idea for a children’s book. The two bond over Sumbitch cookies (can someone please start making these?), and Lily begins to confide in the Mother.

The chemistry between the two is exactly what any HIMYM fan would want. The Mother, played perfectly by Cristin Milioti, is equal parts cool and dorky. Her sense of humor is a tad bit awkward, but her friendly nature allows her to instantly click with Lily. During their talk, Lily realizes that Ted may have annoyed her intentionally to get to Robin first so he could give her the locket she thought she had lost. Ted and Lily arrive at the same time, and she tackles him to the ground in hopes of preventing him from giving Robin the locket. Robin opens the gift, but it’s not the locket. It’s a picture of the Gang from eight years ago. Ted promises Lily he won’t do anything crazy, but he did in fact go to L.A. four days earlier to retrieve the locket from Stella….

Meanwhile, in the weakest link of the episode, Marshall is on the plane from Minnesota to New York while he tries contacting his mom to delete a picture that would reveal his new job to Lily. Overly aggressive Daphne, a fellow plane passenger, played by Sheri Sheppard, pushes Marshall’s buttons, and ultimately, the two get kicked off the plane. Because it’s a holiday weekend, and a storm is coming, the two have to fight for a rental car. Marshall ends up getting the car, but realizes he has no car seat. Marshall being the nice, trusting guy we all know and love, believes Daphne will go buy a car seat, and come back for the two of them. Although we were all probably screaming “REALLY MARSHALL,” Daphne comes back, and the three begin their road trip with the promise that Daphne gets to pick the music.

Barney and Robin are driven to the hotel by Ranjit. On their quest to find out who will be the wild card that ruins the wedding, the two realize they share a crazy cousin Mitch. The couple begins to call all of their relatives with fear they might be related. But alas, they are not. Family drama doesn’t end there though. Barney’s brother James tells the Gang he and Tom are getting a divorce due to his promiscuity. Robin makes him wait to tell Barney. She’s afraid that seeing the only couple that made Barney believe in marriage fail, could change Barney’s mind about their own wedding. Drunk Lily (who made the bartender make sure she never has an empty glass in her hand, which leads to a funny moment with Ted) spills the news, and for a minute, it seems that Barney might bail. But he assures Robin, “I don’t need them to make me believe in true love anymore. “I’ve got you for that.” (AWWWWWW.)

The highlight of the episode? Although we still don’t know how exactly Ted meets the Mother, we get the very first interaction between the two of them. Being the only single male at a romantic getaway, Ted gets plenty of pity from the front desk attendant (played by super funny Roger Bart). As he sits alone doing his crossword puzzle, waiting for his single room key, the Mother appears next to him. And next to her, is future Ted. After some cute banter, Ted recounts how exactly a year ago, he made a promise to himself that he would go back to the hotel with her. He hadn’t met her yet, but he knew he would. And there she is a year later, with “Love in your eyes, baked goods in our undergarments.” “You picked a real winner, Mosby,” she tells him. “I did,” he responds.

With one quick exchange, the eight year buildup of who the Mother is completely justified. Cristin Milioti and Josh Radnor have the kind of chemistry we all wanted and hoped for Ted and the Mother.

The emphasis on Barney saying “ring bear” instead of “bearer” while Robin and Barney talk about the wedding leaves us hoping for a really big wedding mishap. What happened when Ted went to L.A. to get the locket from Stella? When does Ted finally, actually meet the Mother? WHAT IS HER NAME? There are so many questions, I almost don’t want to wait another season to find out.
