CMJ’s 32nd year of its “Music Marathon” begins tomorrow night (October 16th) in New York City. The marathon is mostly about discovering new music, but also offers seminars, Q&A’s, meet and greets, among other things for ticket holders that you can purchase here.

The full schedule for this years festival is listed here, but My Free Concert put together a slightly less intimidating list of unofficial shows, as well as cheap/free CMJ showcases. Since this festival is about discovering new artists, most scheduled performers are on the unknown side, though skimming through the artists page we saw a few familiar names: Alexz Johnson (remember Instant Star?), Asher Roth, Q-Tip, and Teddy Geiger. If you’re looking for a fun show to discover new bands, head to Mercury Lounge on Saturday. We’ve seen Black Taxi perform numerous times, and they never disappoint.

Boy bands really do seem to be making a comeback lately: One Direction, The Wanted, 98 degrees recently got back together, and so have the Jonas Brothers. The brothers announced this morning to Ryan Seacrest that they would be reuniting on October 11 for a concert at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.

This show marks their first together in three years. The boys tweeted “Thanks to our amazing fans for your support this am! The @RadioCity show is just the beginning. So much more to come so stay tuned!” While this is the only show the Jonas Brothers have together this year, this could mean a new album and tour in the distant future, perhaps after Joe has finished with his new show, The Next and Kevin with his reality show Married to Jonas? And if Nick ends up getting a spot on the judging panel for American Idol… Regardless, we’ll be seeing a lot more of the Jonas Brothers.
