Director Paul Heig has confirmed another original “Ghostbusters” cast member will be joining his reboot. Heig wrote on twitter:

Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!

This comes after the news of Ernie Hudson‘s cameo in the film. Sony has been tight lipped about Hudson’s role in the film, and same goes for Sigourney Weaver‘s character. It is unclear whether or not they will reprise their roles as Winston Zeddemore (Hudson) and Dana Barrett (Weaver). But, as of right now none of the original “Ghostbusters” characters will be appearing in Kevin Feig’s new version.

The reboot stars Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzman, Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan. Chris Hemsworth will play a secretary named Kevin. Andy Garcia, Mickael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, and Neil Casey will also star.

Heig’s reboot is set to hits theaters on July 22, 2016.

“Raw” and “Unflinching” get thrown around in coming-of-age film descriptions all the time, but “The Diary of a Teenage Girl” truly captures the experience of teenage sexuality without shying away from anything.

The film is set in San Francisco in 1976 and follows 15-year-old Minnie (Bel Powley) as she explores her sexuality—beginning with an affair with her mother’s boyfriend Monroe (Alexander Skarsgard).

Minnie narrates the film through diary entries recorded on cassette tapes, with a straightforward tone that is set from the film’s opening line– “I had sex today.” Minnie holds nothing back in her thoughts or actions, she unabashedly states how much she likes sex and wonders aloud to her diary if Monroe happens to be masturbating to her at that very moment. While Minnie’s sexual exploration isn’t limited to her relationship with Monroe it’s clear that he’s the one she’s the most emotionally invested in.

The narration is enchantingly lyrical, perfectly capturing the angst and sexual frustration of being a teenager, and the cinematography brings life to the comics and sketches Minnie expresses herself through. Since the film is told in Minnie’s own voice there’s no judgment placed on her choices, making it the incredibly rare film that allows a teenage girl to be a sexual being without lasting negative repercussions. When, in one scene, Minnie and her best friend give strangers blow jobs for five dollars, no one pins a scarlet A on their chests. Instead, Minnie realizes she doesn’t like the feeling she’s left with afterwards and they decide not to do it again. Minnie’s sexual experimentations serve their purpose as learning experiences without having to come back to haunt her later on. Even when her affair with Monroe is discovered, despite her mother’s shock and anger there’s no lasting blame placed on Minnie. Instead, she’s given the space to realize on her own that she wants more than Monroe, and when the relationship ends it is with the sense that this is Minnie’s own choice.

Bel Powley’s performance is stunning. She holds nothing back in her portrayal of Minnie, leaving the audience with an image of a three dimensional teenage girl, who’s flawed and wonderful all at once.

The Diary of A Teenage Girl hits theaters August 7, 2015

Written by: Phoebe Gloeckner & Marielle Heller

Directed by: Marielle Heller

Starring: Bel Powley, Alexander Skarsgard, Kristen Wiig

Grade: A

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which first debuted at the New York Film Festival, redefines what it means to be a hero.

The movie, based on the short story by James Thurber and directed by Ben Stiller, examines the life of Walter (Stiller), an average guy, who spends the majority of his time daydreaming a better existence in life. Until one day he gets the opportunity to actually make his daydreams come true when his job is put at stake after a corporate takeover.

Like almost all Ben Stiller characters Walter is not only likeable, but relatable. At first he comes off as being a spaz that you cannot help but be amused by, but by the end of the film you realize there’s a little bit of Walter in all of us. He represents the dreams we let go when life throws unexpected curve balls and forces us to grow up and sacrifice our desires. The film does a great job of developing the character and making you cheer on and laugh with Walter all the way till the end.

Visually the film is a real artistic delight. The use of CGIs can either be a hit or miss, but in this case it was great and really brought the daydream and adventure sequences to life. This was definitely a case when the use of technology added to the film both visually and comedically.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is by far one of Ben Stiller’s best directing credits to date. The film has a real genuine quality, which may partly be a result of the time period it was written in, but also because of Stiller. This project was clearly a real labor of love for Stiller, who put it all out there when he shared his artistry with world. The vulnerability found in the film is one of the film’s strongest selling points, because it really draws in the audience from the very beginning.

The film does have a romantic element in it, but unlike most films it does not take over the film. Kristen Wiig, who plays Walter’s love interest Cheryl, is a likeable single mom, who neither makes or breaks the movie. The romance is an aspect of the movie, but there are more prominent messages than the typical guy gets girl romantic storyline, which is refreshing.

Overall The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is not only honest and funny, but a great time as well. You will have laughs, pulling-at-your-heart-string moments and everything in between. This movie is a definite must see that can be added to the coming of age titles that make you realize some of the deeper meanings of what life’s all about.

Walter Mitty debuts in theaters nationwide on Christmas day.
