The Hollywood Foreign Press announced the nominations for the 73th Annual Golden Globes on Thursday morning.

Todd Haynes’ period piece “Carol” (based on the book “The Price of Salt” by Patricia Highsmith), received the most film nominations, with a total of five. The film will go up against “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “The Revenant,” “Room,” and “Spotlight” for Best Motion Picture Drama. “Carol” also received a nod for Best Original Score and Best Director. Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, who star in the film, will go head to head in the Best Performance By an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama category.

But that won’t be the only interesting competition during the award show. Christian Bale and Steve Carell both earned acting nominations in a musical or comedy for their work in “The Big Short.” Although Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer didn’t star in a film together, the two new best friends will face off in the Best Performance By an Actress in a Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy category for their work in “Joy” and “Trainwreck,” respectively. We can’t wait to hear some serious smack talk (Or most likely comedic adoration) between these ladies.

On the television front, it seems that streaming services are taking over. Netflix proved to be a force to be reckoned with at the Golden Globes back in 2013 with “House of Cards” and “Orange is the New Black.” This year, Netflix had more nominations than any network with 8, beating HBO by one nod. But Netflix isn’t the only streaming service that appears. In the category for Best Series, Music or Comedy, Netflix’s “OITNB” will go up against Hulu’s “Casual” and Amazon’s “Transparent” and “Mozart in the Jungle.” The only two nominees from a tradition network are both HBO’s, “Silicon Valley” and “Veep.” It looks as though the “Modern Family” sweep from years past is finally over.

The Golden Globes will be hosted by Ricky Gervais on January 10 on NBC. Check out the full list of nominations below.

Jennifer Lawrence has starred in a few box office franchises (“Hunger Games” and “X-Men”), is the highest paid actress in Hollywood, has won an Oscar, and is currently writing a screenplay with Amy Schumer, but the sky’s the limit for the Kentucky native, and she already has her sights set on her next project –directing.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Lawrence said, “I’d also like to direct a comedy. I have wanted to direct as long as I’ve wanted to act. I just don’t talk about it because I’d rather just do it. I’ve signed on to direct something called ‘Project Delirium’ — it’s based on this article about mental warfare in the ’60s, like an acid experiment gone terribly wrong.”

The article she is referring to is the New Yorker’s 2012 piece “Operation Delirium.” As Deadline points out, although her mention of wanting to direct a comedy seems as though it would be tied to the project, it probably isn’t. The subject matter is actually quite dark. The article, written by Raffi Khatchadourian, tells the story of Colonel James S. Ketchum. The psychiatrist by training conducted experiments on U.S. soldiers in Maryland between 1960-1969. The experiments tested psycho chemicals that temporarily incapacitated the minds of soldiers. Drugs sampled included LSD, BZ, VX, and marijuana.

Deadline reports that the film will be directed and produced by Lawrence, with her partners Justine Ciarrocchi, Todd Wagner and Ben Cosgrove also producing. While no further details about the film have been revealed, Lawrence added that now seems like the right time. The 25-year-old said, “It’s funny, I’ve wanted to direct since I was 16 and always thought I should start making steps towards that. If I had tried to do it earlier, I wouldn’t have been ready. Now I actually feel ready.”

Last August, Jennifer Lawrence told the New York Times she and Amy Schumer were writing a movie together. At the time, Lawrence only revealed that the duo had about 100 pages written. What about? No idea, until now.

While promoting the final chapter of “The Hunger Games” (which in case you’re living under a rock, comes out November 20), Lawrence gave some details about their characters to Entertainment Tonight. She told the publication, “Amy, in this movie, she has it very together. It’s her lifelong dream to be a flight attendant. She works at the airport,” As for her own character, “And I’m a MESS.” Would we want it any other way?

The writing process has been seemingly easy for the two women. Lawrence also told the publication she and Shumer have “gotten through a really strenuous process without ever fighting, because we’re both very straightforward.” She does admit though that their similar sense of humor and fearlessness could lead to one problem: “… I don’t know what our movie will be rated.”

There’s no doubt the film will be a comedy. “It’s funny, it’s dirty, it’s real. It’s like us,” she told Access Hollywood. But what about any leading men? Maybe, but doesn’t seem like the film will contain much romance. To Extra, she said, “There’s not really a lot of [male characters] in the story. It’s mostly just me and Amy.”

We’re already sold J.Law.

Buzzfeed exclusively shared the clip with just 18 days away from the film’s premiere.

In the clip, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) reveals her plans to kill President Snow to Johanna Mason (Jena Malone). The two are at Finnick’s (Sam Claflin) wedding to Annie Cresta (Stef Dawson) when Katniss drops the bombshell after hearing Johanna say that her and Peeta used to hear each other’s screams while imprisoned at the Capitol. “Nothing good is safe while he’s alive and I can’t make another speech about it,” Katniss declares.

Francis Lawrence directed the final film, which also stars Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, and Willow Shields. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2″ will hit theaters November 20, 2015.

Jennifer Lawrence isn’t really known as someone who frequently speaks up about feminism, she gets more attention for her funny red carpet moments, photobombs and, of course, films, but on feminism she’s self-admittedly stayed mum — that is until this past Tuesday when she wrote an essay expressing her anger over sexism in Hollywood.

While the Oscar-winner actress said she’s “remained ever-so-slightly quiet” on feminist issues because she does not like to participate in “conversations that feel like they’re trending,” she acknowledged that the only way to make change is by talking and J. Law was ready to speak out.

In an article on Lena Dunham’s site Lenny, Lawrence sounded off about being paid less than her male co-stars on “American Hustle,” and other double standards between men and women. She said she was, “over trying to find the ‘adorable’ way to state my opinion and still be likable!”

Lawrence said she only found how much less she was being paid when emails from Sony Pictures were hacked last November.

“When the Sony hack happened and I found out how much less I was being paid than the lucky people with dicks, I didn’t get mad at Sony. I got mad at myself,” Lawrence said. “I failed as a negotiator because I gave up early. I didn’t want to keep fighting over millions of dollars that, frankly, due to two franchises, I don’t need. (I told you it wasn’t relatable, don’t hate me).”

While the amount of money at stake may not have been relatable, her reasons for not pushing harder have circled through most women’s minds –it was about being likable. Many women worry about how they will come off to others and it can interfere with the way they have business conversations, Lawrence was no different.

“If I’m honest with myself, I would be lying if I didn’t say there was an element of wanting to be liked that influenced my decision to close the deal without a real fight,” Lawrence said. “I didn’t want to seem ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.’ At the time, that seemed like a fine idea, until I saw the payroll on the Internet and realized every man I was working with definitely didn’t worry about being ‘difficult’ or ‘spoiled.'”

Her worries over how she was perceived in negotiations also got her thinking about the way people expect women to talk. She pointed out that when women are blunt or stern people treat them as though they are angry.

“A few weeks ago at work, I spoke my mind and gave my opinion in a clear and no-bullshit way; no aggression, just blunt. The man I was working with (actually, he was working for me) said, ‘Whoa! We’re all on the same team here!’ As if I was yelling at him,” she noted.

She then pointed out that men don’t have to think about how people will interpret the things they say.

“I don’t think I’ve ever worked for a man in charge who spent time contemplating what angle he should use to have his voice heard,” Lawrence said.

In the end she acknowledged that she couldn’t be sure her experiences were due to sexism, but that she’s never really seen other men in her predicament either.

“Again, this might have NOTHING to do with my vagina, but I wasn’t completely wrong when another leaked Sony email revealed a producer referring to a fellow lead actress in a negotiation as a “spoiled brat.” For some reason, I just can’t picture someone saying that about a man.”

Neither could we J. Law, neither could we.

After the essay hit the internet by storm, many of her Hollywood peers commented in support of her stance.

With just 44 days until the release of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2″ (but who’s counting?), Lionsgate has released the final trailer for the film. Like, ever. As in, you will never see another “The Hunger Games” trailer ever again.

The trailer begins with a sweet moment between Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and her sister Prim (Willow Shields), as they dance in District 13. But the moment is cut short: Katniss has to lead the revolution to take down the Capitol. “We all have one enemy, and that’s President Snow!” she yells as she urges the other districts to join the fight. Lots of explosions, monsters, and shooting, promise for an action packed film. “Nothing can prepare you for the end,” the trailer warns in emblazoned letters as Finnick (Sam Claflin) whispers to Katniss, “Welcome to the 76th Hunger Games.”

Katniss marching through a crowd in “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2″

Those who have read the books will catch some notable moments, like Katniss picking up a white rose in a garden, Tigris, a likely important explosion (at 1:08), and that ever important march that’s cut throughout the trailer. Confused? Don’t worry, you can find out when the film is released in the US on November 20.

With a little over two months left until the release of the final “The Hunger Games” film, Lionsgate has released some new “Mockingjay Part 2″ promos.

The poster features Katniss with a mockingjay on her shoulder, and a tagline at top which has us scratching our heads: “A creature as unquenchable as the sun.” We’ll forgive the confusing and dramatic line only because of the heart-wrenching trailer dedicated to Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Prim (Willow Shields) that was also released today.

The trailer shows the emotional history of Katniss and her sister Prim, from the moment Katniss volunteered for the games in place of her sibling (in “The Hunger Games”), all the way until the revolution in the last film. “I never wanted this, I just wanted to save my sister, and keep Peeta alive,” she tells President Snow.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film also stars Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland, all reprising their original roles.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2″ will hit theaters on November 20, and tickets can be purchased started October 1.

The comedy Gods have come together and sent us what could be the next dynamic duo. During an interview discussing the last ‘Hunger Games’ film, Jennifer Lawrence leaked to The New York Times what her post ‘Hunger Games’ future holds.

One thing she mentioned is that it holds a lot more of Amy Schumer. Since becoming fast friends this summer, the two decided to write a screenplay together in which they plan to star.

Lawrence told the New York Times, “We play sisters. We’re almost done writing. It just flowed out of us. We’ve got about 100 pages right now.” She went on to explain how the writing process between them works:

“Amy and I were creatively made for each other. We have different flavors. It’s been the most fun experience of my life. We start the day off on the phone, laughing. And then we send each other pages. And we crack up. I’m flying out tomorrow to see her in Chicago. We’ll write a little bit with her sister, Kim, who worked with Amy when she was writing Trainwreck.

I know just hearing about the project is filling you guys up with anticipation over the movie itself (something Jon Stewart predicted would happen!), but before we get there, just think about what the Lawrence-Schumer publicity tour will look like when this film gets made. Lawrence is already a charmer on red carpets and once you combine her charm with Schumer’s signature deadpan delivery, we get giddy just thinking about it. Assuming their writing styles do translate well on film, the whole thing will be double the goof and double the fun.

So whose brilliant idea was it to pair J.Law and Schumer? Well, the friendship developed when Lawrence reached out to Schumer after watching Schumer’s film, “Trainwreck.”

“I emailed her after I saw Trainwreck,” Lawrence said. According to Lawrence, she wrote, “I don’t know where to get started. I guess I should just say it: I’m in love with you.” Lawrence said the e-mailing turned to texting and the rest, as they say, is jet-skiing history.

For an early taste of what their banter will look like, here’s what happened after Lawrence realized she inadverdantly announced the project. Lawrence texted Schumer to warn her that news of their collaboration was out. According to Lawrence this is what texts between these two new friends and partners look like:

J.Law: I just spilled the beans to The New York Times. Is that O.K.?

Schumer: That you’re gay? Totally! It’s exciting!

The first full length trailer for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2″ has finally arrived. In the final installment of the “The Hunger Games,” Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) leads a revolution against the Capitol and President Snow (Donald Sutherland).

In the trailer, we hear President Snow say “I’ve been watching you, and you watching me. My dear Miss Everdeen, make no mistake, the game is coming to it’s end.” As the plans begin to be made for the revolution, Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin) tells Katniss “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 76th Hunger Games.” We see lots of action, Katniss and her team from Distric 13 running from what we can only assume are traps made by the Capitol to kill. Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) seems to be back to his old self. At the end of Part 1 we saw Peeta try to kill Katniss after being brainwashed by the Capitol. But the trailer shows a hug between the two as we hear him say, “Our lives were never ours. They belong to snow and our deaths do too. But if you kill him Katniss, if you end all of this, all those deaths, they mean something.”

The film will hit theaters on November 20, 2015.

Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Willow Shields, producer Nina Jacobsen and director Francis Lawrence were joined on stage by moderator Conan O’brien (you may have heard of him) to discuss the past films and what fans can look forward to in the finale.

The panel opened with a full drumline dressed in all white. Fans were then treated with a short teaser for the film, a “message from District 13.”

Jennifer and Josh proved their on screen chemistry is one hundred percent real. When asked about where Peeta is in part 2, he said, “It’s a long road to recovery and it has some bumps along the way. We pick Peeta up inside 13 trying to get himself back. He went through a lot back in the Capitol. They’re trying to rehabilitate him to be a good guy and help the cause.”

The gem that is Jennifer countered with “And he couldn’t stay away for long. He couldn’t resist this.”

As for Gale, Liam admits that although he’s been on the sidelines in the past films, he “becomes a big part as to how to attack the Capitol.”
The heartthrob said if he met Gale in real life he would tell him, “It’s alright mate, plenty of fish in the sea.” A possible option? Peeta, apparently.

After Josh admitted to looking forward to a scene that Peeta and Gale have, Jennifer was shocked she didn’t know about it. “There might be a kiss between Josh and I,” Hemsworth said. Josh quickly responded, “They said no spoilers, man!” DON’T TEASE US LIAM!

Francis told the crowd, “War is under way…this is where Katniss gets back in the action.” This was all revealed in the first trailer, which won’t make its way online for a while. (Sad face, I know). The trailer included some looks to the past, some Katniss and Peeta action, some big and deadly explosions at the Capitol, and President Snow saying, “The game is coming to its end.” At one point Peeta tells Katniss to make all the death mean something, which can point to one huge plot point (which I won’t reveal, but readers of the book YOU KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT).

“Anyone who loves the end of the book will love the end of the movie,” Francis revealed, which again, tells anyone who read the books a lot. All I’m saying is YES, #TEAMPEETA. (Sorry for the spoiler, kinda).

Jennifer got a bit sentimental when talking about saying goodbye to Katniss, “I’ll never really say goodbye to her. I feel like it’ll always be a part of me.” She also clumsily gave Katniss credit, saying she hopes Katniss’ character rubbed off on her: “She’s brave and I’m an actress… What I have in my head is actually pretty interesting and there’s no way I’m going to be able to get it out. Something was kind of bestowed on Katniss in a way the same as saying yes to these movies was on to me. I’d like to hope that some of the leadership —you guys, I haven’t done interviews in like a year.”

The cast also tried to do the Mockingjay whisle… and failed. Liam belted out the X Files tune instead.
