The highly anticipated Sony “Ghostbusters” reboot will see cameos from nearly all the living original cast- Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver. Noticeably absent is Rick Moranis.

Those hoping for a full reunion, you’re out of luck. Although the 62 year old actor was offered a role, he turned it down. Speaking with the Hollywood Reporter, Moranis said, “I wish them well. I hope it’s terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?”

Even though he won’t be making an appearance in the Paul Feig film, Moranis insists he’s not retired from acting. After his wife died from breast cancer in 1997, Feig took time off to care for his two children. “I took a break, which turned into a longer break. But I’m interested in anything that I would find interesting. I still get the occasional query about a film or television role and as soon as one comes along that piques my interest, I’ll probably do it. [But Ghostbusters] didn’t appeal to me,” he told THR.

The rest of the original cast (Murray, Aykroyd, Hudson, Weaver) will join the new Ghostbusters, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Jones, for the reboot, which is scheduled to hit theaters July 15, 2016.

Director Paul Heig has confirmed another original “Ghostbusters” cast member will be joining his reboot. Heig wrote on twitter:

The reboot stars Kristen Wiig as Erin Gilbert, Kate McKinnon as Jillian Holtzman, Melissa McCarthy as Abby Yates and Leslie Jones as Patty Tolan. Chris Hemsworth will play a secretary named Kevin. Andy Garcia, Mickael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, and Neil Casey will also star.

Heig’s reboot is set to hits theaters on July 22, 2016.

It looks like the gang is getting back together! It’s been confirmed that Ernie Hudson, star of the original “Ghostbusters” films, will appear in Sony’s female led reboot along with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hudson was spotted on set of the new film for the final day of shooting. Hudson will be joining the already announced Aykroyd and Murray in a cameo role, briefly interacting with new stars Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones, and Melissa McCarthy.

It’s unclear whether Hudson is reprising his role as Winston Zeddemore. Sony declined to give any details on his role, but if what we’ve heard about Aykroyd and Murray’s appearances are true, Hudson probably won’t be donning the iconic jumpsuit. As of right now none of the original “Ghostbusters” characters will be appearing in Paul Feig’s new version.

Murray leaked some info on his role back when his cameo was confirmed. He won’t be back as Dr. Peter Venkman, instead he will play a skeptic of the team who wants to prove that they are a fraud. Originally, it was thought that the four original Ghostbusters would pass the torch, or act as mentors to the new team in some degree, but the death of Harold Ramis forced some changes on the original idea.

That being said, it’ll be fun to see the consistently underrated Hudson play off the new cast and what kind of one liners he might deliver. We just hope the scenes he does film stay in the movie, considering how much he says his original character was cut from the franchise.  In an essay for Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, Hudson said his character’s backstory was completely removed from the original film.

“Instead of coming in at the very beginning of the movie, like page 8, the character came in on page 68 after the Ghostbusters were established. His elaborate background was all gone, replaced by me walking in and saying, ‘If there’s a steady paycheck in it, I’ll believe anything you say.’ So that was pretty devastating,” Hudson said.

Apparently that steady paycheck is still enough since he is coming back for the reboot, even after publicly criticizing it.

Last October, he told Britain’s Telegraph, “If it has nothing to do with the other two movies, and it’s all female, then why are you calling it ‘Ghostbusters?’ I love females. I hope that if they go that way at least they’ll be funny, and if they’re not funny at least hopefully it’ll be sexy. I love the idea of including women, I think that’s great. But all-female I think would be a bad idea. I don’t think the fans want to see that.”

But Hudson soon changed his mind after the cast was announced, telling The Hollywood Reporter in January, “Four fiercely funny, foxy, females busting ghosts… phenomenal!”

Drama aside, we’re just excited to see what the remaining original Ghostbusters will do in the film.

Very little is known about the next “Ghostbusters” film. Paul Feig tweeted earlier this year, “It’s official. I’m making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That’s who I’m gonna call.” Other than that, and the fact that Bill Murray will not be returning, are all we know so far.
