The number one film brought in $24.765 million, a 57% drop from its premiere week. Following at number two is Adam Sandler‘s “Pixels.” The Christopher Columbus directed flick brought in a disappointing $24 million.

The Universal comedy “Minions,” came in third, bringing in $22.1 millions. However, the film took the top spot worldwide. Internationally, “Minions” finished with $44 million, bringing it’s total to $66.1 million. “Ant Man” was not far off with a worldwide total of $66 million.

Some estimates believed the film, starring Cara Delevingne and Nat Wolff, could bring in around $48 million, but in reality, ended the weekend at the number six spot with $12.5 million.

After ending the weekend with $6.9 million, “Jurassic World” broke records, becoming the third highest grossing film in North American history with a total of $623.8 million so far. (Behind only “Titanic” and “Avatar”).

ORIGINAL STORY: July 12, 20:44

Fans in Hall H had quite the surprise in store for them on Saturday during the Warner Brothers panel. The studio brought out “Suicide Squad” director David Ayer. Although production for the film is still underway in Toronto, Ayer told the audience he wanted to stop by because “you guys run this shit! We’re making this movie for you, right here. It’s all about canon, it’s all about being faithful to the source material. You guys know who you are, and know what you want, and you’re going to get it with this show. All this good vs. evil shit is kind of played out. It’s time for bad vs. evil. It’s time for a movie about bad guys! Who’s got the best bad guys out there? DC Comics, the best villains. Now, I’m not trying to start a East Coast-West Coast feud with Marvel Comics, but someone has to say the truth.”

Ayer then proceeded to joke that he “found this on the internet,” and showed the first footage from the film, which of course, has since leaked. (You can find it easily, I promise, but we won’t post it here). The footage begins with Amanda Weller (Viola Davis), talking with a man about “the most dangerous people in the world who can do some good.” The man asks, “What makes you think you can control them?” She assures him, “Because getting people to act against their own self-interests is what I do for a living.” We then see a montage of Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Deadshot (Will Smith), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), and the rest of the suicide squad in action. “We’re some kind of suicide squad” we heard Deadshot say in a voice over. The best part comes towards the end with the Joker (Jared Leto) creepily saying, “I’m not going to kill you, I’m just going to hurt you, really, really bad.”

Ayer then invited the cast on stage, minus Jared Leto: Karen Fukuhara (Katana), Adam Beach (Slipknot), Cara Delevingne, Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Viola Davis, Margot Robbie and Will Smith. Before leaving, Smith told the crowd “We are banging out something that is absolutely fantastic. We’ll see y’all next year!” The film is slated for an August 5, 2016 release.

The first trailer for “Paper Towns” starring Cara Delevingne and Nat Wolff has been released. Based on John Green’s book by the same name, the film follows Quentin Jacobsen (Wolff) as he searches for, literally, the girl next door, Margo Roth Spiegelman (Delevingne). The two grew up together, but by the time they reached high school, they ran in different circles. Right before graduation, Margo shows up in Quentin’s bedroom, ready for a night of pranks. The next morning, she was missing.

The film also stars Cara Buono, Caitlin Carver, Jim Coleman, Meg Crosbie , Griffin Freeman, Tom Hillmann, Susan Macke Miller, Halston Sage and Jaz Sinclair.

“Paper Towns” will hit theaters July 24.

Is anyone else a little distracted by trying to find slips in Cara Delevingne’s American accent?
